Sunlight streamed through the suite's windows as Lívia woke to the sensation of fingers tracing patterns on her back. She turned to find Camila watching her, expression unreadable in the soft morning light.
"Good morning," Lívia murmured, stretching.
"Did you sleep?" Camila asked, though she'd clearly been awake for some time.
"Better than I have in years." Lívia propped herself on an elbow. "You?"
Camila's smile was slight. "I watched you sleep."
Lívia's breath caught. "That's not creepy at all."
"It was... illuminating." Camila's fingers continued their exploration. "You're completely unguarded when you sleep."
"Is that good or bad?"
"Just different." Camila leaned in to kiss her, slowly, deliberately. "I'm not used to that."
They lay next to each other in bed, the mountain air cool against their skin. "What happens now?" Lívia asked softly.
Camila's arm tightened around her. "We have ten more days of hiking."
"And after?"
"After," Camila said, "we figure that out together."
