Chapter 12 - End of the shadow

Adam stood before the room filled with mirrors, feeling as though his every breath was being watched by something larger than anything he had ever known. The strange light emanating from the box began to mingle with the shadows, creating a mixture of reality and illusion.

Amidst this chaos, the mysterious object appeared in the center of the room. It gradually took shape, and Adam realized it was the real Marcus, but not what he had thought… It was an artificial version of the Shadow, a composite of all those who had betrayed and acted treacherously all along.

"You thought you understood the game…" Marcus said, his voice a mixture of anger and coldness.

"But it was all a test… for those who carry power and darkness within them."

Now the final confrontation began:

Each version of allies and enemies in the mirrors began to move, as if trying to influence reality, presenting Adam with two choices: confront the Shadow or succumb to its illusion.

Leonardo tried to help him, but he had revealed himself to be a double agent from the start, his goal being to test Adam's ability to distinguish friend from foe. The woman in black reappeared, the guardian of the room, saying:

"You will not know the truth until you face yourself… until you understand who the real Shadow is."

Adam suddenly realized that the key and the box were instruments to measure his willpower and test his ability to make the right decision in the critical moment. Every wrong move would have allowed the Shadows to engulf the entire city.

In a crucial moment, Adam faced his final reflection, which represented all his past fears and mistakes. The struggle between them was not only physical, but also mental and psychological:

"Am I the Shadow, or do I control the Shadow?" he cried to himself, using everything he had learned from riddles, all the symbols, and all the power gained from the key.

After a grueling mental and physical battle, Adam was able to direct the light emanating from the key directly at the reflection, gradually dispelling the Shadows and foiling Marcus's plan. All the mirror images vanished, leaving the truth naked and clear:

The real Marcus had been hidden all along in the Shadows, but his power was tied to the strength of people's fears and illusions. *Leonardo chose his own end, a blend of mystery and betrayal, but he left a crucial mark: the true key wasn't the tool, but Adam's will.

*The Black Woman vanished after testing Adam's will, leaving a message:

*"I survived… but the shadows always return. Whoever controls fear controls reality."*

In the end, the city began to recover, the shadows receded, but Adam stood before the box, wondering:

*"Is it all over… or has the real war just begun, within every mind, within every heart… within everyone who carries the shadow?"*
