They stepped in—

Crimson met flame.

Clean.
Sharp.
Even.
Ren smiled.

Kai didn't answer.
Then—
He stopped.
Mid-motion.
His aura… changed.
Crimson deepened.
Darkened.
Thickened.
The air dropped.
"…Kai?" Ren frowned.
Kai's head tilted slowly.
A smile formed.
Wrong.
"…This body…"
A low voice.
Ancient.
"…finally usable."
Inside—
Darkness.
Kai's consciousness snapped awake.
"…What… is this…?"
A presence stood behind him.
Endless.
Cold.
The Demon Ancestor.
"…You've grown enough."
Kai clenched his fists.
"…Get out."
The Ancestor chuckled.
"…Why would I?"
A pause.
"…Your emotions… your bonds…"
"…They weaken you."
Kai's eyes sharpened.
"…They make me stronger."
Silence.
Then—
The Ancestor's voice turned cold.
"…Then I will prove you wrong."
Outside—
Kai moved.
FLASH—!!
Gone.
Ren reacted—
CRASH—!!
A heavy strike slammed into his guard—
BANG—!!
He was driven back violently.
"…What—?!"
No rhythm.
No pattern.
Just overwhelming force.
SMASH—!!
A second blow crushed into him—
CRACK—!!
His stance broke.
BAM—!!
He hit the ground.
"…This isn't Kai…"
Aeris stepped forward.
"…Stop this—!"
Darius raised his hand.
"…Stay back!"
Ren rose—
Barely.
Kai was already there.
GRAB—!!
Seized his collar—
SLAM—!!
Drove him into the ground again.
Dust exploded.
Inside—
Kai fought.
"…STOP—!!"
"…Watch," the Ancestor whispered.
Outside—
Kai raised his arm.
Crimson gathering.
Condensing.
Ren's eyes sharpened.
He tried to move—
Too slow—
THRUST—!!
PIERCE—!!
Silence.
Kai's arm… through Ren's chest.
Everything froze.
Aeris' world shattered.
"…No…"
Ren's breath faltered.
Blood touched his lips.
Inside—
Kai screamed.
"…NO—!!"
"…This is your truth," the Ancestor said calmly.
"…Power requires severance."
Kai shook violently.
"…He's my friend—!!"
"…Then he is your greatest weakness."
Outside—
Kai pulled his arm free.
Ren collapsed.
THUD—!!
No movement.
Silence.
Then—
Relief.
Teachers exhaled.
Students stepped back.
"…It's over…"
"…Ren lost…"
Kai stood still.
For a second—
The crimson flickered.
Hope.
Then—
BOOM—!!
It surged again.
Violent.
Unstable.
"…No…"
Kai's body turned—
Toward Ren.
"…Not enough."
The Ancestor's voice twisted with irritation.
"…I will erase him completely."
Aeris' eyes widened.
"…STOP—!!"
Kai moved.
FLASH—!!
He struck again—

Flame intercepted.
Silence shattered.
Ren stood.
Wound gone.
Aura changed.
Ancient.
Deep.
A dragon's presence loomed behind him.
"…As expected…" the Ancestor muttered.
"…Dragon bloodline."
Aeris' breath returned.
"…Ren…"
Inside—
Kai felt it.
Relief.
Sharp.
Painful.
"…You're alive…"
Ren smiled faintly.
"…Barely."
BOOM—!!
They moved again.
CLASH—!!
This time—
Equal.
BANG—!! CRASH—!!
Flame met crimson.
Neither yielding.
BLOOD STRIKE—!!
DRAGON FLARE—!!
They collided.
Shockwaves tore outward.
"…They're equal now…!"
"…What is happening…?!"
The Ancestor's voice sharpened.
"…Interesting."
Ren stepped forward.
Eyes burning.
"…I'm not losing."
Inside—
Kai forced his voice through.
"…Don't… hold back…"
Ren's smile widened.
"…Wasn't planning to."
They rushed—
Power surged—
Everything peaked—
STOP.
All force vanished.
Cut clean.
"…Enough."
The Principal stood above.
Unmoved.
Absolute.
Kai froze.
Ren halted.
Power dispersed instantly.
"…This ends here."
No resistance.
Both were taken.
Gone.
Silence remained.
Aeris stood still.
Heart racing.
"…He almost…"
A pause.
"…killed him…"
Her hands trembled slightly.
"…And he came back…"
The field stayed broken.
And nothing felt the same.
