Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: Old Ones Gudako? Kirei and Kiritsugu!

Chloe, strengthened by the command spells, scrambled up from the ground. Seeing Gudako and Illya about to be hit by Magic Bullets, she accelerated instantly to reach them, swinging Kanshou to cleave the Magic Bullets apart.

After landing, Chloe grabbed Illya and Gudako with each hand and threw them forcefully toward the elevator.

"Hurry, you guys..."

The moment Chloe threw Illya and Gudako, more Magic Bullets arrived, and Chloe was submerged in the rain of light formed by the bullets.

At the same time, a look of shock appeared on Illya's face as she climbed up, because the contract had been severed.

Gudako, still blankly muttering pleas for mercy, also froze. Martha's contract was severed at that same moment, and the spiritron light rising nearby made Gudako realize Martha's 'death'.

"Chloe... Martha... Chloe... Martha..."

Gudako began to repeatedly chant their names, her eyes appearing mechanical and hollow.

Then, a hair-raising sense of strangeness rose from Gudako, causing Illya to stand frozen and shivering as if she were witnessing some immense horror.

The Enlightened One watched the increasingly bizarre Gudako and actually stepped down from the Lotus Pedestal, letting his feet touch the ground. At the same time, the halo in the sky began to shrink continuously, floating behind The Enlightened One's back.

"It really is you! Old God! Or should I say, Demon God!"

---

Shifting the perspective to the other side, Kiritsugu Emiya was continuously pulling the trigger at Kirei, who was charging toward him. Bullets from the hot muzzle formed a hail of lead directed at Kirei Kotomine.

Kirei crossed his arms to protect his head, using the bulletproof properties of his priest outfit to pass through the hail of bullets and reach Kiritsugu Emiya.

"Hah!"

Arriving before Kiritsugu Emiya, Kirei threw a swing straight at Kiritsugu Emiya's chest. The battle-hardened Kiritsugu Emiya also activated Time Alter in an instant, using his own acceleration to graze past Kirei's fist and dodge the strike.

Having completed the dodge, Kiritsugu Emiya raised his handgun, pressed it against Kirei's extended right arm, and pulled the trigger, firing a 9mm Luger round from the muzzle.

Kirei let out a muffled groan. As an Agent, Kirei ignored the pain in his arm, which felt as if it had been struck by a hammer. He shifted his footing to press against Kiritsugu Emiya's left side, using his right elbow to strike Kiritsugu Emiya's throat, causing Kiritsugu to clutch his neck and begin coughing.

As Kiritsugu Emiya coughed, Kirei stepped one foot between Kiritsugu's legs and then used his shoulder to slam Kiritsugu to the ground.

Kirei then took a quick step toward Kiritsugu Emiya and was about to stomp down when his pupils suddenly constricted. He quickly retracted his raised foot and tried to shield his eyes with his arms.

"Bang!"

The moment Kiritsugu Emiya hit the ground, he had pulled a Flashbang from his coat. After pulling the pin, the moment Kirei Kotomine approached him, Kiritsugu Emiya squeezed his eyes shut and slammed the Flashbang against his own chest, causing it to explode.

Although Kiritsugu Emiya had closed his eyes, the intense flash still harmed his eyes through his eyelids, blurring his vision. Simultaneously, that forceful slam against his chest caused a trickle of blood to leak from the corner of his mouth.

Climbing up, Kiritsugu Emiya ignored the burns on his hands and felt his chest, muttering.

"Ribs should be cracked."

Kirei Kotomine, having lost his vision, calmly relied on the sounds made by Kiritsugu Emiya to locate him and kicked out without hesitation.

Enduring the pain in his chest, Kiritsugu Emiya dodged several of Kirei's attacks and thought, 'A martial arts master! It seems he's using sound to track me, so I'll use a Stun Grenade!'

Having thought of a countermeasure, Kiritsugu Emiya took out a Stun Grenade, shielding it with his hands as he pulled the pin to minimize any noise. He counted down in his head, and when the time was right, he threw it at Kirei with all his might.

Kirei, who had lost his sight, heard the faint sound of the Stun Grenade cutting through the air and quickly shielded his face as he retreated. Kirei certainly didn't think Kiritsugu Emiya would do anything useless.

A loud boom erupted in front of Kirei, the massive noise causing Kirei Kotomine to suffer from tinnitus and nausea.

Kiritsugu Emiya, who was prepared from a distance, pulled out his dual pistols and began firing lethal bullets at Kirei continuously.

Bloody flowers bloomed one after another on Kirei Kotomine's exposed skin. Once the bullets in his extended magazines were spent, Kiritsugu Emiya swapped in a fresh magazine and cautiously approached Kirei.

Kiritsugu Emiya then raised his pistol and fired several more shots into Kirei Kotomine's head before turning away with peace of mind.

Just after Kiritsugu Emiya turned around, the Twin Bodhi Trees regrew from Kirei's hands. One burrowed into Kirei's heart, while the other instantly pierced through Kiritsugu Emiya's back and entered his heart.

The Roots of the Twin Bodhi Trees took hold, and then Kiritsugu Emiya and Kirei vanished into a cloud of powder as if they had been sucked dry, disappearing from the Seat of the Summit.

Kiritsugu Emiya looked at the scene before him in disbelief.

Claudia Hortensia, Kirei Kotomine's wife. The scene displayed was the moment when Claudia Hortensia, who was terminally ill, committed suicide to 'awaken' Kirei Kotomine. However, beyond Kiritsugu Emiya's expectations, Kirei Kotomine, witnessing his wife's suicide, actually revealed a joyful smile and strangled her with his own hands. After watching this part of Kirei's memory, Kiritsugu Emiya clearly felt the deep evil within this man, Kirei Kotomine.

Then the scene shifted to a ruined landscape where Kirei Kotomine was holding the Holy Grail high. The moment Kiritsugu Emiya saw the Holy Grail, his heart trembled, and he rushed forward without hesitation to seize it, but his hand passed right through it.

"If that was Kirei Kotomine's memory just now, then what is this? Whoever is playing tricks, come out!"

No one answered Kiritsugu Emiya's roar, and the Kirei Kotomine in the vision continued to act.

Kirei Kotomine stood still holding the Holy Grail for a long time before finally sighing silently and tossing it aside. He then walked into the distance alone. Time then flew by as humanity continued to live and reproduce on this planet as always, with constant wars and conflicts, nothing having changed. This man, whom Kiritsugu Emiya considered evil, did not go about doing evil everywhere as Kiritsugu expected; he simply lived a numb life within the Church, with only the occasional joyful smile at others' suffering reminding Kiritsugu Emiya that this man was 'evil'.

Then the scene shifted again, still the same ruins and the same scenario, but this time the one holding the Holy Grail high was the image of Kiritsugu Emiya himself. In the image, Kiritsugu Emiya excitedly held up the Holy Grail, proclaiming his wish to save the world. With a flash of golden light, countless rays of light fell upon the entire world.

Subsequently, just as Kiritsugu Emiya had envisioned, a world where no one had diseases or the suffering of aging and death, a world where everyone could be happy, was born—until the first person committed suicide. Then came a second, a third; more and more people began to commit suicide. Kiritsugu Emiya desperately tried to change the outcome of the suicides in the vision, but no matter how hard he tried, nothing changed.

Until the vast majority of humans on this planet had died, the small group of remaining Magi took their new synthetic lifeforms to re-occupy the Earth; thus, humanity met its end.
