Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Confronting Goblin

"What will we do now, Peter?" Cortana asked worriedly.

"Working for Baxter is no longer an option. I will have to completely change my approach. I think Project Rebirth will be activated sooner than expected. Cortana, listen, I want you to hack into several accounts belonging to mobsters, corrupt officials, or drug dealers. Put the money in a secure bank account.

I think there is one here.

Look for Delaware; it is a good tax haven here in the United States. Also, buy some Stark stock, he is practically bankrupt, buy enough to make us rich, but also enough so they do not have to ask our permission if they want to do anything," he spoke as the HUD began to light up.

He synchronized some new blasters with the suit.

The organized nets had solved the problem of running out of nets, but they tired him considerably.

Besides, they could be an effective surprise element when they were taken from him or became useless.

These now had a wide variety of combinations that would be effective on certain occasions. He clenched his fist while looking at the moonlight.

"Okay then, let us put an end to the Green Goblin chapter in my life," he said as he started to swing.

"Are you okay, Peter?" Cortana asked worriedly as they crossed New York City. "I am detecting several high levels of est-...."

"I am," he replied as his mind traveled back to Susan's betrayed look.

Shaking his head slightly, he forced a smile as he eased Cortana's worries. "I just have a lot on my mind. I messed up with Susan, I was careless and now she knows all about this vigilante thing. Even if I do not stay at Baxter I will have to make it up to her."

"I agree," she said while making him sigh. "You were her best friend."

"Are you not supposed to be d-...."

"But at least you admit your mistake," she interrupted him. "We will have time to make it up to her. I will investigate how to apologize to her, I will gather her likes and dislikes, her hobbies, her favorite food, that way you will have a better chance of succeeding in your apology."

"Thank you so much, Cortana! You are the best!"

"I know."

"Now, let us finish this," he said as he landed on the rooftop in front of an abandoned factory near Astoria Park in Queens.

Extending his senses, he saw the entire area and memorized the location of the hostiles. "Densely dangerous and guarded."

"Let us not resort to firearms this time, so we do not allow Osborn to escape this time."

"Urgh." He groaned to himself.

"I would have had him six meters deep if those four idiots had not interfered." He shook his head. "Cortana. Connect to the CCTV and monitor the radios. I do not want any direct communication between the guards."

"Understood, give me a second," she said as she slipped through security. "It is done, I am in, ready for you to go."

"Good."

"Happy hunting."

"Heh." He chuckled as he leaped across the rooftop and landed on the ground with a small thud, turning invisible using camouflage just as a man appeared around the corner after hearing a small noise.

"Who is there, Jack?" his radio colleague asked as the man looked around wearily. Sighing to himself, the man turned away ready to leave.

"No one, friend, must have been a cat or something," the second voice said as he turned to leave while turning off his radio.

"Damn, what a boring night-...."

"Is it true?" a voice behind him asked, making the man's eyes widen like headlights.

Before he could scream or call for help, he felt a force close his mouth and cut off his oxygen. He began to move to escape.

Spider-Man made himself visible and then put the man in a chokehold. "Lucky for the others, I am about to rock this party."

Slamming the man's head against the wall, he caught him before he could fall and jumped over the fence.

Hiding beneath a metal ladder leading to the factory roof, he took cover as a man approached on his rounds.

Waiting for his chance, he grabbed the man by the feet and yanked him hard, knocking him unconscious.

Grabbing the ladder from the side and using his enhanced strength, he placed his feet on the railing and propelled himself upward, landing on the three-story factory roof.

He landed silently right behind a henchman and grabbed him by the mouth, then spun him around and slammed his head against the metal railing, knocking him unconscious.

With his feet planted on the railing, he threw the man off the rooftop and turned around as he heard the knocked-out man crash against a wall and the ground as a final impact.

"Damn, that must have hurt," he reflected to himself as he scuttled towards the entrance of the internal staircase on the rooftop.

Standing on the blind side of the wall, he waited a few seconds for another henchman to arrive.

"It is me, time to change shifts.... Where the hell did he go?" the man asked while looking around.

"One where you will go," Spider-Man said as the man turned around to hit him. Ducking down, he punched him in the shin making him rise up, but he grabbed his neck to avoid any trouble.

"Sweet dreams."

He threw the man over the factory fence and he fell into an open dumpster that slammed shut as he landed. He threw a web just to reinforce his safety.

As he went downstairs, he began to make quick work of the rest of the henchmen in a quiet manner that would have made Arno Dorian proud.

Grabbing the Chief of Security's mouth, he watched Green Goblin's back as he played with his glider.

Twisting the man's neck, he let him fall to the ground making a noise. Green Goblin froze when he heard the noise.

"Hmph." The Goblin said while continuing to work on his glider.

"Finally you are here. I was expecting you sooner rather than later."

"Stop messing around, Mar-...." He cleared his throat.

"Osborn. Where is Connors?" he asked, making the Goblin drop the wrench and growl. Pressing a button on his glove, all he could hear was static.

"Do not bother, I took care of everyone."

"Seventy-three armed and dangerous men, defeated. Do you know how much money I spent on all of them?" the Goblin growled in an annoyed tone.

"I do not know, and I do not care," Spider-Man said boredly. "Where is Connors?"

"Of course you would not, but you should have. You have been a thorn in my side for far too long. You have ruined everything!" He growled as he moved from his glider to face him, only for Spider-Man to hiss at the sight of his face.

"It is time you paid for every interference! I will make you beg for forgiveness!"

"Holy shit, sorry man," Spider-Man said while rolling his eyes. "I am sorry I cannot make your good side match the other one."

"You! You are going to die! Today is the end for Spider-Man!" he shouted angrily and then ran toward him.
