Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Fantastic Four

Doom turned to see who had intervened.

While Doom was looking at him, Peter had already used his momentum to redirect the car.

It came toward him, but the punch he had ready hit Doom instead, because Doom had walked directly into the middle of the web lines.

The impact sent Doom flying.

Spider-Man prepared his fist, and when Doom was close enough he hit him in the face with everything available and Doom went through the wall of a building at speed.

"What the hell is his armor made of?"

He felt his fist go numb for a moment. 'I should not be surprised. He can take punches from Ben Grimm and get up like nothing happened.

He can probably withstand a hit from Hulk.

In the comics there is a theory that the Thing can fight Hulk to a comparable level, which I personally think is wrong, but the armor's resilience is clearly above standard.'

"Holy shit, man! That was amazingly cool!" The figure who landed beside him and extinguished his flames was grinning. "Who are you, man?"

"Yes," Reed Richards said, approaching with Susan beside him. "I think we would all like to know."

"I am not a threat, if that is what you are asking," Spider-Man said, arms crossed.

"We mean, do you have a name?" asked a talking rock from the other side of Reed.

"I have one. I am Spi-...."

"Wait! I know who you are! I never thought I would actually meet you! You are Spider-Man! I thought you were a myth!"

"Grrr." He looked at the flaming figure.

"And this might be your last opportunity to meet me, Johnny Storm. I do not like being interrupted, and I am not in a good mood today, so I would be careful about provoking me."

Two red dots appeared on his lenses, simulating eyes.

This was the interrogation mode effect, designed to amplify fear in the subject.

It worked.

Johnny took several steps back. "And who are you?" he asked, turning to the rock.

"I am Ben Grimm," Ben said. "Nice to meet you."

"Pleasure is mine. And you two," he said, looking at Reed and Susan, "do not need to introduce yourselves. I already know who you are."

He looked at the building Doom had gone through. "The question is, who is the man I hit?"

"He is a colleague," Reed said. "A former colleague. His name is Victor Von Doom. All of us were exposed to a strange energy from another dimension. Because of this, each of us developed different capabilities. I am superelastic.

Johnny can ignite himself and partially control it.

Ben is superhumanly strong due to his transformation.

Susan has invisibility and force fields.

Victor controls electricity."

Crash.

Doom emerged from the building he had been sent through, dusting himself off.

Ben ran toward him immediately.

All it took was Doom picking up a metal pole and using it as a bat. Ben flew and hit the ground and created a crater. Doom approached with the pole to finish the job. Spider-Man shot a web and snatched it from his hands.

"Johnny. Keep him occupied for a few seconds. I need to formulate a plan."

"Done, flames to me!" Johnny transformed back into the Human Torch and launched himself at Doom.

"Listen," Spider-Man said to Susan and Reed. "We use Johnny to heat up Victor's armor. Susan, once Johnny starts, you create a containment field and do not let any of the heat escape. I will handle the rest. Understood?"

"Yes," Reed and Susan said together.

"Good. I will keep Victor occupied. Explain the plan to the other two."

He looked toward the fight. "Johnny, come back!"

He took Johnny's place. Before Ben could charge in: "Ben! Go to the others! They will explain!" Ben nodded and went.

Doom launched powerful energy beams.

Peter dodged each one, his agility and spider-sense working in combination.

Close enough to Doom, he prepared to strike.

Doom caught his hand just before it landed, punched him, and delivered an electric shock to his stomach that sent him several meters back.

He recovered quickly.

He went straight at him again.

Doom threw two lightning bolts.

He dodged them, shot a web at Doom's hands, and when Doom pulled him in he put his feet on Doom's face, bent his knees, launched two webs to the ground, and pulled hard.

Doom went face-first into the pavement.

Spider-Man moved clear immediately, which was fortunate because the lightning bolt that followed would have produced several severe burns.

"Awww," Spider-Man said. "The baby wants to cry. Wants to cry because he is a spoiled, pampered baby who is not as smart as Richards."

That was enough. Doom was on his feet in seconds, furious.

Before he could act, Spider-Man drew two spheres from his belt and threw them in sequence. The first was a reaper sphere. The second was tear gas.

"AHHHH! Doom's eyes burns! Doom will make you pay, insect!"

'He is looking more and more like Doom.'

"Are you ready?"

"Yes!" from the Fantastic Four.

"This is fantastic," Johnny said. "We are fighting alongside Spider-Man!"

"Do not get used to it," Spider-Man said. "This is temporary."

Doom looked at all of them and began charging enormous amounts of electrical energy into his body, the visual of which was remarkably similar to a certain Sith lord's signature technique, which put a small smile on Peter's face that nobody could see because of the mask.

He ran toward Doom, who began throwing lightning bolts that he dodged one by one.

He reached him and hit him, making him stagger back.

He stopped holding back.

He began hitting Doom's chest rapidly and with increasing force until he had achieved what he needed: a crack in the armor.

He jumped back and let the others take over.

He had given them enough of an advantage.

"Ben! Your turn!" He moved to the top of a lamppost.

"It is time to clobber!" Ben said, bumped his fists, and ran at Doom, delivering strikes to his face and chest that were progressively more effective because of the crack in the armor that widened with each hit.

One of Ben's punches sent Doom airborne.

Spider-Man shot a web that stuck to his chest and pulled him back, grabbed his head, and slammed it into the ground just like Sukuna did against Cursed Womb (Jutai).

He immediately jumped sideways and avoided a flame that would have produced significant second and third-degree burns if not for the spider-sense warning him a fraction of a second before it arrived.

Johnny was partially dominating the exchange.

Spider-Man helped when Doom's electric shocks came faster than Johnny's reflexes could handle.

"Johnny! Supernova now!" Reed called.

Spider-Man began throwing webs at Victor rapidly, pinning him long enough for Johnny to reach the required speed and temperature. Doom was surrounded by a tornado of fire. He tried to move and the temperature prevented it.

"Susan, contain it!" Spider-Man called.

"Understood!"

The Invisible Woman extended her power and created a field around Johnny's tornado, forcing the heat inward and preventing any escape.

After several seconds both Susan and Johnny deactivated simultaneously. Doom stood petrified, still able to move but only slowly.

"That is all you have?!" he screamed, and began raising his arms.

That was as far as the movement went, because Spider-Man launched two spheres that hit the ground and Doom simultaneously and froze everything within that radius.

The armor solidified. Doom could not move. The ice would not last long, but it would last long enough.

"NOOOOOOOO!"

"Wow! Well done, Ara-...." Ben looked around. "Where is he?"

The others looked around as well. He was not there.

"Where did he go?" Johnny said.

"I do not know," Reed said. "I did not see him leave and I did not hear a web shot. Susan, did you see him?"

"No."

The crowd began praising the new heroes. Johnny immediately started performing for the cameras.

Ben gave a shy wave. One of the news screens was showing footage of the fight, and Reed moved closer to look at something specific.

"Wait. Everyone look at this," Reed said, and the others gathered around him. "Do you see something unusual?"

"Yes," Johnny said. "Yes, I look hotter than usual." He smiled at one of the journalists.

"That is not it. Look at the footage carefully. You can see the spheres impact Doom, but you cannot see who threw them, which is strange because the angle clearly showed it was Spider-Man. It is as if the spheres came from nowhere."

"Now that I look at it, you are right," Susan said.

While the geniuses considered how he had not appeared in a single recording, Spider-Man was already swinging home, stopping along the way to interrupt an attempted rape, a robbery, and one situation that defied easy categorization.

When he reached the house he climbed the wall and went through his bedroom window, changed, put the suit away, and went directly to bed to let his regeneration work.
