Kael filed through the hierarchy as he walked. The servants of the Vorn family were organized into four tiers, each with distinct roles and authority.
First were the Blades — the personal guard of the Family Head himself. Twelve individuals, each one a monster in combat, answering only to the Unyielding. Even Cassandra couldn't command them.
Second were the Flagbearers — squad commanders who led the family's military forces. Competent, loyal to the branch elders who appointed them, but ultimately middle management in the family's power structure.
Third were the Guardian Knights — elite enforcers assigned to protect specific family members and installations. Less lethal than Blades, more visible than Flagbearers.
