"Are you jealous?" Kael repeated.
Rue's ears flattened.
"No."
"You are jealous." Kael smiles.
"Shut up and fuck my ass before I change my mind."
Kael laughed—a genuine sound, warm and amused. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the small of her back, right where her spine met the base of her tails. Rue shivered.
"Eager little fox."
"Don't call me— ah—"
His tongue traced the curve of her spine, following the line down to where her tails connected. Rue's breath hitched. Her tails twitched—nine golden streams of fur rippling with nervous anticipation.
"You've done this before?"
"N-no. But I read about it. And I... prepared. Just in case."
"Prepared?"
"In case you ever wanted to." Her voice dropped to a whisper.
Kael paused.
Something shifted in his expression.
"Then I'll be gentle."
He smiled against her skin.
