Chapter 3: God of war
The appearance of the God of war was a majestic one, he was wearing an amour similar to iron man suite, and the amour was made of hard metals. He was flying through the help of flying skate that was bat shaped. The mighty warrior immediately flew toward the monster in high speed like a flash of lightening, with a punch, it sent the flying monster higher into the sky above the cloud, when Obafemi looked up he could see flashes of light as lightening in the cloud, suddenly the flying monster eaglet felled from the sky and felled on a roof top. it has been slain by the warrior's sword
When Oba saw this, he felt powerless within, he has seen his short coming, and he was too weak that he couldn't fully protect the one he cherished. From that day he made up his mind to join the military and become a warrior.
The military were of two branches, the army and the super human warriors. The super human warriors were in charge of safe guarding the safety of humans in base cities. The hunt down mutated beast in fallen base cities. He was interested in becoming a warrior.
"are you alright" Oba asked her, having faced a life threatening situation, she couldn't talk but simply nodded in affirmation, Bryce's car has been half damaged by the incident, he has ran away to take cover. As teenager pampered from day one, he loved his life dearly more than anything else.
In less than 5 minutes that the incident occurred Natasha's driver arrived and she stepped into the car and she waved goodbye to oba, obafemi felt a warm chill in his heart, with inward happiuness, he smilled and waved back.
When Obafemi reached home the whole family was around and was preparing to have lunch. Oba was living in a less developed area of lag base city. It was a bit far from the school. The area was a bit polluted due to numerous refineries located in that area.
"Brother Oba, you are back" akin shouted in excitement on sighting his elder brother entering through the door, he was sitting on a wheel chair, one of his leg was amputated and the other leg wasn't stable, he was involved in an accident a year ago and luckily survived.
"Yea, am back" he replied with a smile.
"Good afternoon dad"
"Good afternoon mom"
"you are welcome my son , food will soon be ready, just go and take your shower and then come and join us for the lunch" the calm voice came from a woman in her late forties, she was putting on a simple gown and a cooking apron, her hair was styled in a ponytail. She was still beautifully even though she looked a bit older than her age due to stress. Oba's parents had to work hard in other to put food on the table. Oba's father works in a company that takes care of house hold decoration and furniture. They were trace of gray hair seen on his hair, he was on his fifties.
Few minutes later Oba was done taking his bathe and the family of four ate happily together, they were meant to be 5 but Oba's only sister is living with her aunt her father sister. Oba's siblings akin and his sister Stephanie are twins. They are three years younger to Oba .
The next morning was Saturday; Oba's parents prepared and went for work after breakfast.
"You promised to take me out this Saturday for a work brother, do you still remember or have you forgotten".
Ever since akin had an accident last year one of his leg has to be amputated to save his life, they could not afford for a more advanced surgery, neither could they go for bio regeneration which was only for the warriors family and wealthy class. Most Saturday, Oba takes him out for walk on wheel chairs, in other to prevent him from getting depressed and home sick due to his disabilities that rendered him immobile, he had registered online class and studied from home , he was still able to make progress in studies and became a genus in coding and software programming.
Oba took him out for a walk by pushing the wheel chair, although the wheel chair can move on its own without being pushed when it is well charged. After the thrill of the day, they came back.
As they reached home, Oba's phone started ringing, he picked the call and placed it in his ear.
"Hello"
"Yes I am"
"What, how"
"Alright, I will be right there" Oba's mood suddenly changed as he was answering the call .
"Any problem" his brother asked.
"Don't worry yourself, it will be fine" Oba replied his brother and put his phone back into his pocket, just stay in the house I will be right back. He held his feeling back to avoid his brother noticing his worried face. He ran out of the house and headed to the hospital.
Oba's father has been severely beaten by Bryce's men at his work place. Bryce's injury has healed up after the last incident and decided to take revenge on Obafemi and his family. The company where Obafemi's father works was also owned by the Jagaban family making it easier for Bryce to attack Oba's father while he was at work.
" how is my dad" Oba asked the doctor
"He was beaten roughly, but luckily he only sustained minor injury, none of his born was broken, his case isn't life threatening , he will be discharged in a few days" the doctor assured him.
When he entered the male emergency ward were his father laid, his mother was already there and his father was lying on the hospital bed. He felt sorry for therm.
After seeing them he left and headed straight to his father's work place to enquire the reason why his father was beaten like that.
"Wonderful look who is here, I never expected you to work into my den" Bryce smirked arrogantly.
"I can see that you haven't learnt your lesson from the last time we met" Oba said with fury on his face fully written in his eyes blood shot. Bryce has gotten everyone ready to attack with rod and dagger. Immediately he charged everyone to attack Oba, this time Oba wasn't holding back his punches, every punch he gives sent the person flying ten meters away, his punch were weighing about 800kg impart. It can brake bones fracturing any point it hits, when Bryce saw that he was loosing the battle, he called the police, he will have called his family but he didn't want anybody to know about it from his family.
The police siren blowed and surrounded the area with about 5 cars
"This is the police everyone drop your weapons and surrender" everyone present including Bryce and Oba was arrested and taken to the station. While they were detained investigation were going on. They checked the surveillance footage and noticed that Bryce and his men were the one who attacked first .this fight got the attention of the falcon martial club in Lag base city after inspecting the scene and surveillance camera discovered that the punch from Obafemi was far above the punch of normal human capability. They decided to watch him closely and recruit him into their club. The falcon martial club is a huge organization; the department in lag base city was just a small branch. They trained warriors who can stand a chance against mutated beast species, training them to God of war level.
Obafemi was released within 24 hours of his arrest while Bryce was bailed out by his family, oba reached home, take care of his brother, then his father was discharged a week later.
Obafemi studied hard preparing for the final exam, he wanted to be a warrior and one of the criteria was a high exam score. Natasha wanted to join the intelligence department f the military warriors, their work is to get specimen from the body f dead mutated beast and study it, and provide intelligence to the military.
On the day of the exam, Oba waked up very early, prepared and set out for school. The exam was to start by 8am; it was a CBT exam (computer based test). He had no more for transport that morning, so he decided to take short route to the school. Unknown to him Bryce has Bryce has blocked the short route with touts (bad boys) to deal with Obafemi. It was already 7 am. They was no camera here but 2 warriors who has been watching Obafemi for a week now was nearby, they didn't help out they were just watching to see how Oba will make it through that challenges and reach the school on time. They wanted to see his true abilities.
Oba's POV
I must join the military warriors, I must make it to school before 8 am , but how, I had been surrounded already, its now impossible to take another route, I have to fight it through no matter what otherwise, my family will remain poor forever.
