Chapter 66 - The Bewildered Schlacht

Although it wasn't the first time seeing it, it still felt incredibly magical. Zenith placed the dishes everyone ordered on the table one by one. When he lifted the thermal metal covers, streaks of golden light shot up into the sky.

Only glowing food was good food. After finishing the dishes, Zenith sequentially added a magic that made the food glow—a spell he had specifically sought out Serie to learn.

*Delicious, it's truly too delicious.* With every bite, it felt like wandering through a culinary paradise. This was a dish that could make people feel happiness. Being able to adventure with Zenith was truly wonderful.

It was undeniably delicious. Food created through blocks was the standard definition of perfection. Unless they encountered an unreasonable cooking anime like *Cooking Master Boy*, Zenith's Pam's HarvestCraft farm was invincible.

"Now it's time for the post-meal dessert. Everyone can guess what type of chocolate they have. If you guess correctly, you get a second piece."

The chocolates produced by the Chocolate Lover's Brooch were surprisingly popular. Sweets could make people feel happy, especially in a medieval era where the sugar industry was not well-developed.

There was another very important point: the gold foil wrappers on Zenith's chocolates were made of pure gold. Although it wasn't much, they couldn't resist the fact that they steadily received three pieces every day.

"I feel like I'm about to be bought off by Zenith, Himmel," Heiter said, drinking his special fruit punch while peeling off the gold foil, slumping drunkenly over the table.

"Indeed. Ever since we left the Village of the Sword, we haven't had to worry about money at all."

Zenith used his capabilities to prove what it meant to be rich and capricious, as well as the saying that the way to a person's heart was through their stomach.

Getting full made it easy to feel sleepy. Crawling into their respective matchbox cabins, the soft wool beds lulled everyone into sweet dreams.

Serie wasn't in a hurry to sleep. She wanted to study the amulet Zenith had given her earlier. A magic item like this, which could take effect infinitely without consuming mana, could easily be called a divine artifact. With her ambition to become the Goddess of Magic, she wanted to decipher its mysteries.

"This mana... Grausam? To think the Seven Sages of Destruction actually chose to make their move here. It seems tonight will be a little interesting."

Serie ignored it. She wasn't a babysitter for these adventurers; she only stayed in the party because Zenith was here. There was no longer any magic in this world that she didn't understand. Only from Zenith could she obtain new knowledge.

Although the price was a bit steep. Every time she saw Zenith, she felt a faint itch on the soles of her feet. For the first time in thousands of years, she had been reduced to such a miserable state.

Grausam's magic manipulated the mind. He could trap people in beautiful dreams they could never wake from, and even manipulate their memories at will. Making a move at this hour gave him a natural advantage.

Seven great demons slowly approached, while Schlacht, the demon prophet, stood on a hilltop looking completely bewildered. Where did this pile of matchbox rooms come from? The number of people and the scene were completely different from the future he had foreseen.

It was one thing for South Hero to be together with Himmel and Frieren. A not-yet-fully-grown Himmel had the combat power to tie with one of the Seven Sages of Destruction at best. But could someone tell him why Serie was here too?

And who exactly was this Zenith? Why did his omniscient foresight magic have absolutely no effect on this person? His past and future were a complete blank, as if this man existed entirely independent of the timeline.

Saying anything at this point was meaningless; the arrow was already nocked and had to be loosed. Even if the Seven Sages of Destruction were wiped out, as long as the Demon King remained, the overall advantage still belonged to the demons. And as long as they could take down these human geniuses in exchange, it might be hundreds or thousands of years before another hero capable of threatening the Demon King appeared.

It seemed Serie had no intention of intervening. The humans who had already fallen into the dreamscape would be left for the Seven Sages of Destruction to handle. As for this Zenith with an unknown background, he would deal with him personally.

Just as Schlacht was about to make a move, he realized that Zenith had appeared behind him at some unknown point, holding a cup of apple smoothie in his hand.

"If I were you, I wouldn't move around right now."

Cold sweat dripped down. *When?*

Schlacht felt his heart pounding wildly. Fear. For the first time, he felt fear. The great demon who was accustomed to seeing through the past and future at a glance, holding everything in the palm of his hand, experienced what the unknown truly meant for the very first time.

Watching Schlacht obediently squat down with his hands on his head, Zenith very enthusiastically placed a boat under his feet to ensure he couldn't escape.

"How about a bet? Guess who will win between them. If you guess right, I'll give you a dignified death."

Zenith yawned. It was already around eleven-thirty at night. Under normal circumstances, he would have been asleep by now. But because of this bunch of demons, he had been forced to drag himself out of bed.

The moment he touched the bed, a prompt popped up before his eyes: [You may not rest now, there are monsters nearby]. After failing to fall asleep several times in a row, Zenith's sleep-deprived rage instantly flared up.

*You won't let me sleep, huh? Fine, then you'll never sleep again!*

The future was changing. Schlacht's lips trembled. The All-Seeing Eye tattooed on his chest felt like a complete joke at this moment. In a split second, he saw countless futures, and in every single one of them, the demons were completely wiped out.

"For the demon race!" he uttered with a trembling voice, struggling to ignite the mana within his body. Unfortunately, let alone casting magic, he couldn't even manage to self-destruct right now.

"Wrong answer." A cluster of intertwined red and green light appeared in Zenith's hand. It was the Whispering Player from the Enigmatic Legacy mod. This item was originally just a voice line list for another mod item, the Eye of the Omniscient, but its manifestation in reality was far more than just that.

*Aren't you omniscient and omnipotent? Don't you claim to have the All-Seeing Eye? Then let's see if you can withstand the whispers of an enigmatic legacy.*

Zenith shoved the two-colored orb of light into Schlacht's head. The latter's eyes instantly rolled back, his mouth opening and closing unconsciously as he let out a gurgling sound.

His human guise gradually began to distort. Tentacles and pustules burst forth from deep within his flesh. Every blood vessel and nerve seemed to gain its own consciousness at this moment.

"Ew—gross."

Zenith stepped back in disgust, watching Schlacht gradually twist and mutate, ultimately turning into a lump of flesh that would make anyone's sanity drop like a rock.

"K-Kill... %&#... m-me... &*"

The original meaning could faintly be discerned from the chaotic, broken words. Zenith shook his head. "Why would I kill you? Tossing you back into demon territory like this would be much more use... Ah, how did he die?"

After reaching a certain threshold of chaos, the body that had barely congealed into a lump suddenly disintegrated. It turned into a puddle of foul-smelling mud before finally dissipating into basic mana particles.

*What a pity,* Zenith shook his head, preparing to see how South Hero, Himmel, and the others would handle this situation.

Inside her room, Serie, who had been studying the amulet, hadn't been able to resist the urge to peek. She was now dry-heaving.

"Thank the Goddess for her blessing. I almost became one of those things."

Having learned her lesson the hard way, Serie realized she shouldn't spy on Zenith's actions for no reason. Who knew what kind of cursed contraption he would pull out next?
