Mrs. Diana immediately snorted sharply. "But the fact is, you've already hurt him, you bastard!"
The atmosphere in front of the restaurant instantly grew even more awkward. Several patrons began staring openly. Some even quietly pulled out their phones, as if they recognized Sean's face.
But the man remained silent. He wasn't angry. Nor did he defend himself. Because Sean knew he truly had no answer.
Clara quickly and gently grabbed her mother's arm. "Mom, enough…"
"No, Clara!" Mrs. Diana turned sharply, her eyes red with emotion. "I've stayed silent for far too long while watching this man toy with your life!"
Sean slowly lowered his head. And unfortunately… Every word from Clara's mother felt like something he deserved.
"Do you know how Clara has lived in her marriage all these years?" Mrs. Diana continued sharply. "She couldn't sleep for months! She cried in secret so I wouldn't worry!"
