Panda looked like he was about five seconds away from falling asleep.
Kirara was relaxing beside Hakari, while Todo was somehow giving a speech about how hot springs strengthened the bonds between brothers.
Nanami had his eyes closed.
And Takeru?
Takeru was experiencing the greatest five minutes of his life.
"Man," he murmured, leaning against the rocks. "I could stay here forever."
Yuji chuckled. "You said that about the pizza, too."
"Pizza and hot springs are two of life's greatest achievements, Yuji. Respect them accordingly."
"Right, right."
Takeru closed his eyes again.
Then, suddenly, they snapped open.
He sat upright.
"WAIT."
Everyone glanced at him.
Takeru stared into the distance, looking as if he'd just discovered a terrible secret.
"WHAT DAY IS IT?!"
Yuji blinked.
"...What?"
"WHAT. DAY. IS. IT?!"
Panda lifted his head.
"Friday?"
Takeru immediately looked at him.
"YOU'RE GUESSING!"
"I'M A PANDA! I DON'T KEEP TRACK OF THE CALENDAR!"
Kirara started laughing.
Hakari rubbed his forehead. "How do you not know what day it is?"
Takeru pointed at him.
"BECAUSE MY LIFE HAS BEEN A NONSTOP CYCLE OF FIGHTING, DYING, GETTING AMNESIA, FIGHTING MORE, AND NOW HOT SPRINGS!"
Yuji slowly raised a finger.
"Technically, you didn't die during the amnesia thing."
Takeru turned toward him.
"I JUMPED OFF A MALL TWICE, YUJI!"
"...Fair."
Todo crossed his arms thoughtfully.
"THE DAYS OF A WARRIOR ARE NOT MEASURED BY CALENDARS, BUT BY THE BATTLES HE HAS FOUGHT!"
Takeru stared at him.
"...That's beautiful, Todo."
Todo smiled proudly.
"THANK YOU!"
"Still doesn't answer my question."
Nanami opened one eye.
"Check your phone."
Silence.
Takeru slowly turned toward the pile of belongings he'd left safely away from the water.
"...Oh."
He got out, grabbed his phone, and checked the date.
Then he stared at the screen.
Yuji leaned forward.
"Well?"
Takeru slowly lowered the phone.
"...Okay. I've got good news and bad news."
Hakari raised an eyebrow.
"What's the bad news?"
"I have absolutely no idea how much of my life I've spent fighting people."
"And the good news?"
Takeru grinned.
"We're at the hot springs."
Panda nodded.
"That's fair."
Yuji laughed. "So you checked the date for nothing?!"
"NO! I CHECKED THE DATE FOR IMPORTANT RESEARCH!"
"What research?!"
Takeru climbed back into the warm water and leaned against the rocks.
"Whether today is a good day to relax."
He closed his eyes.
"...And the answer is yes."
Nanami sighed.
"I can't believe I came here with you people."
Takeru: "LOVE YOU TOO, NANAMI!"
Nanami: "I DIDN'T SAY THAT!"
The hot springs erupted with laughter.

He was already relaxing again.
