Chapter 20 - Volume 20: The Iron-Leaf Chronicles

Global Asset: Rebirth Of The Ruthless Scholar

Chapter 1: The Geography of the Fallen

The Down-World was known as The Emerald Basin, a realm where nature had reclaimed the ruins of ancient civilizations. Massive floating vines connected the mountain peaks, and the sun was a soft, pale gold. Unlike the chaotic Upper Worlds, this place felt "Permanent." Xun Long spent his mornings helping Lin Xiao gather "Soul-Grass" in the Whispering Valleys.

"Master, your current physical density is 500x that of a normal human," Li Mei's voice was a faint, static-filled whisper in his mind. She was barely clinging to existence within his subconscious. "Every step you take is a risk to the ecosystem."

Xun Long looked at his boots. He had to use a specific "Weight-Distribution Technique" he had derived from his 1000x Intellect just to walk on grass without crushing the roots. He was a titan walking on eggshells. "Strategic survival is no longer about expansion," he thought in French. "It's about invisibility."

Chapter 2: The Tiger's Shadow

Zhao Wei, the governor's son, couldn't let go of the humiliation. He organized a "Village Tournament" to celebrate the Spring Equinox, specifically inviting Xun Long to participate, hoping to expose him as a fraud or kill him in the ring.

"A scholar should know his place," Zhao Wei said in Urdu, standing atop his white stallion. "Unless, of course, the scholar is afraid of a little... physical exercise."

Lin Xiao grabbed Xun Long's arm. "Don't do it, Long. He's a Level 3 Qi-Gatherer. He'll use his spiritual pressure to break your spirit."

Xun Long looked at Zhao Wei with a bored expression. His violet-silver eyes were hooded, hiding the god-tier predator within. "I will participate," he said in Mandarin. "But I won't use my hands." The arrogance of the statement sent a shockwave through the crowd. The "Competitive Tension" was now at its peak.

Chapter 3: The Tournament of Restraint

The tournament was held in a stone arena. When it was Xun Long's turn, he faced a giant man known as "The Mountain Crusher," one of Zhao Wei's hired thugs. The giant charged, his fists glowing with red Qi.

Xun Long stood perfectly still. He didn't punch. He didn't kick. He simply leaned forward and let the giant's fist hit his chest.

The sound was like a hammer hitting an anvil. The giant's arm bones shattered instantly upon contact with Xun Long's indestructible body. Xun Long didn't move an inch. He simply exhaled a puff of air, which carried enough Brute Force to blow the giant out of the ring.

"He... he's a Body Cultivator!" someone screamed in the crowd. Zhao Wei turned pale. He realized that Xun Long's "strength" wasn't about Qi; it was something far more terrifying and primal.

Chapter 4: The Jealousy of the Jade Orchid

As Xun Long's fame grew, other women in the village began to notice him. The village head's daughter, a beautiful but spoiled girl named Mei Ling, started bringing him "Sovereign Tea" and acting coy.

Xun Long, being a cold strategist, used her interest to gain information about the Kingdom's defenses, but Lin Xiao didn't see it that way.

"You seem to be enjoying the attention, 'Scholar'," Lin Xiao said in Urdu, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she slammed a basket of herbs onto the table.

Xun Long looked at her, his 1000x Intellect finally detecting a variable he hadn't accounted for: Female Jealousy. For the first time, he felt genuinely nervous. "She is a source of local intelligence, Xiao," he explained in Mandarin.

"I don't care about intelligence!" she snapped. "I care about... about..." She stomped away, leaving Xun Long standing there, utterly confused by a human emotion that no equation could solve.

Chapter 5: The Scholar's Night Lessons

That night, Lin Xiao found Xun Long practicing his "Control" in the backyard. He was trying to pick up a single flower petal with his teeth without crushing it. It was a 18+ level of physical discipline—his muscles were vibrating so hard they were glowing.

"Why do you work so hard to hide it?" she asked softly, her jealousy replaced by curiosity.

"Because power is a beacon, Xiao," he said in English, his voice deep and gravelly. "And I have seen what happens when the light is too bright. It burns everything it touches."

He walked toward her, his presence overwhelming. He was careful, his movements slow and deliberate. He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. His touch was as light as a feather, but she could feel the raw, tectonic power vibrating beneath his skin. In that moment, the "Love Story" moved from curiosity to a deep, dangerous attraction.

Chapter 6: Zhao Wei's Dark Pact

Zhao Wei, driven by pure jealousy and fear, traveled to the "Forbidden Peaks" to meet a Dark Cultivator. He offered his own life-force in exchange for a weapon that could "Pierce the Unpierceable."

"There is a man," Zhao Wei hissed in Urdu. "He has no mana, but his body is like a god's. I want him dead."

The Dark Cultivator laughed and gave him a "Soul-Blight Needle." It didn't care about physical strength; it targeted the life-span of the victim. Little did they know, Xun Long's Rebirth Mark gave him an unlimited life-span. The weapon was designed to kill a mortal, but it would be like throwing a toothpick at an ocean. The strategic error of the enemy was being set in stone.

Chapter 7: The Choice of the Heart

The volume ends with the arrival of a "Dimensional Scout" from the Upper Worlds. The scout, disguised as a merchant, recognized the faint violet pulse of the Rebirth Mark on Xun Long's neck.

"My Lord," the scout whispered through a secret transmission in Russian. "The way is clear. The High Watchers are distracted. We can pull you back to the Throne tonight."

Xun Long looked at the clinic, where Lin Xiao was singing a soft lullaby while preparing medicine. He felt the unlimited power of his former self calling to him. He could be a God again.

He looked at the scout. "Tell them... the Sovereign is dead."

"But Lord—"

"I have found something more valuable than a throne," Xun Long said in Mandarin. He turned his back on the portal and walked back into the clinic. He chose a life of limited strength and unlimited love. But the shadow of Zhao Wei and the Soul-Blight Needle was already looming in the dark.
