The afternoon had settled into a quiet, stubborn chill, the kind that seeped through walls and lingered in the bones. Rain had been falling since morning, never heavy enough to demand attention, but persistent-soft, endless, like a thought that refused to leave. Droplets traced slow, winding paths down the tall office windows, blurring the city beyond into a watercolor of gray and silver.
Inside, the office hummed faintly with electricity and distant movement, but Denisse barely noticed. She sat at her desk, shoulders slightly hunched, eyes focused on the glow of her computer screen. Lines of data and reports filled her view, each one demanding precision, attention. She was close to finishing. Just a few more adjustments. Just a little longer.
Her fingers paused for a moment above the keyboard as she exhaled, rubbing the tension from her wrist.
Then the phone rang.
The sharp sound cut through the quiet like a crack of lightning. Denisse blinked, straightened, and reached for it.
"Yes, Ms. Ashford?" she said, her tone professional, practiced.
There was a pause. Then a voice, dry and familiar.
"Ms. Ashford again?"
Denisse's lips curved despite herself. She leaned back slightly in her chair, letting the formality slip away like a coat she no longer needed.
"Okay, okay. What is it, Lesley?" she replied, her voice softening into something warmer, almost teasing.
"Come here."
Denisse tilted her head, eyes flicking instinctively toward the glass-walled office across the room. Through the clear partition, she could see Lesley sitting behind her desk, one leg crossed over the other, posture composed but gaze fixed-waiting.
Denisse's fingers tapped lightly against the receiver. "Make sure this is office-related," she said, a small laugh threading through her words. "Or I'll think you're trying to abuse your power over me."
"Yes, it is," Lesley replied, entirely unbothered. "Come here now."
Denisse let out a quiet sigh, though the smile lingered. "Fine."
She hung up, stood, and smoothed down her blouse out of habit more than necessity. The walk across the office felt longer than usual, each step accompanied by the faint sound of rain against glass and the muted rhythm of her own heartbeat.
When she pushed the door open and stepped inside Lesley's office, the first thing that greeted her was the scent-Lesley's perfume. Something expensive, warm, and faintly intoxicating. It lingered in the air like a signature.
Denisse closed the door behind her, her hand still resting briefly on the handle. "What is it?" she asked, trying to sound composed.
Lesley didn't answer immediately. Instead, she leaned back slightly in her chair, her expression softening into something almost playful. She tapped her crossed leg.
"Come here."
Denisse blinked, her composure slipping just a little. "Lesley," she said, lowering her voice instinctively, "we're in the office."
A hint of pink crept into her cheeks, betraying her.
Lesley reached toward the control panel without breaking eye contact and pressed a button. The glass walls surrounding the office shifted, darkening smoothly until the outside world disappeared, leaving them enclosed in a quiet, private dimness.
"No problem," Lesley said simply.
Denisse's breath caught for a second. The change in atmosphere felt immediate, like stepping into a different space entirely. More intimate. More dangerous.
"Now," Lesley added, tapping her lap again, a small smile forming, "come here."
Denisse hesitated, just for a moment. Her heart beat faster, a warmth spreading through her chest that had nothing to do with the room's temperature. Then she smiled-soft, almost shy-and stepped forward.
Each step felt deliberate. Measured.
When she reached Lesley, she paused, standing just in front of her, their proximity closing the last of the distance between them. She could feel Lesley's presence, steady and grounding.
Then, slowly, she sat.
Lesley's arms wrapped around her waist almost immediately, pulling her closer, holding her as if she had been waiting for this all day. Denisse let out a quiet breath and lifted her arms, draping them around Lesley's neck, her fingers resting lightly at the nape.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
"You tired?" Denisse asked softly, searching Lesley's face.
Lesley nodded, her gaze fixed on Denisse's eyes, something unguarded flickering there.
"I need to recharge," she murmured, tightening her hold just slightly.
Denisse's lips curved again, gentler this time. "So I'm your charger now?"
"Yes," Lesley said without hesitation. "Of course."
The certainty in her voice made something in Denisse's chest soften.
"Then..." Denisse whispered, leaning in just a little, "this might charge you faster."
She closed the distance and kissed her.
The kiss was soft, unhurried. It wasn't demanding; it was a quiet kind of closeness, something that lingered rather than rushed. Lesley's grip tightened, grounding herself in the moment, as if she truly meant what she said-like this was exactly what she needed.
Then-
The phone rang.
Neither of them moved at first.
The sound cut through the stillness again, persistent, insistent. Lesley ignored it, her focus entirely on Denisse, as if the rest of the world had ceased to exist.
But it kept ringing.
Denisse pulled back slightly, her breath uneven. "Hey... you should answer that," she said softly. "It might be important."
"Nothing is more important than this," Lesley replied, already leaning in again.
Denisse laughed quietly, placing a hand against Lesley's shoulder to stop her. "I'll answer it for you."
Lesley leaned back with a small, amused smile and gestured toward the phone. "Do as you please."
Denisse reached over, picking up the phone. The screen showed an unknown number. She hesitated for a split second, then answered.
"Hello-"
"Hello, where the hell are you? We are at the airport now!"
The voice on the other end was sharp, impatient, and loud enough that Denisse instinctively straightened.
"Oh-hi, this is Ms. Ashford's secretary," she said quickly, slipping back into professionalism. "May I know who is calling?"
Meanwhile, Lesley had leaned closer again, her lips brushing lightly against Denisse's arm, leaving small, teasing kisses that sent a ticklish warmth up her skin.
Denisse nearly lost her train of thought.
"Oh, sorry-I thought you were Lesley," the caller said. "Anyway, where is she?"
"S-She's a bit busy at the moment, ma'am," Denisse replied, her voice wavering just slightly as she shot Lesley a pointed look.
Lesley only smiled, entirely unrepentant.
"If you have a message, I can relay it, Miss?" Denisse continued, trying to regain control.
"Oh yeah. Ms. Ashford-Leanne Tracy Ashford. Her sister. Tell her to get her sexy ass here at the airport."
Denisse froze.
Her eyes widened, and she jolted upright so suddenly that Lesley pulled back in surprise.
"Oh my god-yes, Ms. Ashford," Denisse said quickly before ending the call.
"What?" Lesley asked, brows knitting. "Who was it?"
"Your sister," Denisse said, turning to her, still slightly breathless. "She's already at the airport."
A beat of silence.
Then realization hit.
"Shit," Lesley muttered, running a hand through her hair. "I forgot."
Denisse stared at her. "She said she's waiting. And judging by her tone..." She paused, then added, half-teasing, half-serious, "I think you might get spanked if you're not there in five minutes."
Lesley huffed out a short laugh despite herself, already standing. "Hundred percent. Come on."
Denisse blinked. "What? I should come too?"
Lesley glanced at her, something softer returning to her expression. "Yes. Don't you want to meet my sister?"
For a moment, Denisse didn't answer.
But something warm spread through her chest again, quieter this time. Steadier.
She smiled.
"...Okay."
And just like that, the quiet office, the rain, the unfinished work-all of it faded into the background as they stepped out together, moving quickly now, into the waiting gray afternoon.
