Chapter 22 - Chapter 4,2: Memorable courage

I stepped my feet on the dirty floor. The smell of the air was bad and damp. A dim light illuminated the darkness of the floor. Leaving this dimness and heading to the final destination, my feet stepped onto the hallway. The weak light from earlier began to shine brightly, illuminating this body.

Rough nails scratched the floor, her body trembling to the tips of her fingers. Her arms, which were stuck to the floor, tried to lift, before falling back down without strength.

"Move,"

"...Why can't I,"

Obsidia's neck turned slowly until her face caught Tezza's body face down on the hallway floor.

"What are you doing there?"

Obsidia's voice stopped Tezza. The vibrations in her body disappeared, replaced by a thumping in her chest cavity that slowly grew faster.

The vibration of footsteps pierced her back. Her eyes, which were staring at the floor, slowly blurred unclearly, the layer of water that had gathered there began to flow, wetting her cheeks.

"Please... I have nothing to do with them," Tezza's voice trembled in the hallway.

"I. I. I-I only—" Tezza's voice trembled before disappearing.

Obsidia's footsteps vibrated in front of her bowed face. The air was swept softly as the brown fabric got lower, touching the floor.

"Troublesome... Weak and complicated." The touch of fingers lifted Tezza's chin.

The light that shadowed Obsidia's face crept into Tezza's eyes.

"Scared?"

"Please... I don't want to die here." Her chin trembled. Tezza's tears flowed even more until they fell, wetting the floor.

"If you don't want to die. Fight."

The tears raining on the floor.

Slowly stopped.

"If you can't fight. Run."

Under the light stones that were getting weaker, Obsidia's voice slowly stopped the fear. After those two words, she continued.

"If you can't run either, Then just face it," said Obsidia with a voice that sounded smooth.

Obsidia's fingers shifted from her chin, brushing away the remaining tears on Tezza's eyelids.

"Understand?"

Obsidia's touch slowly moved away. Her bent knees stood up again, followed by the fabric of her dress which hung again above her ankles.

Tezza regained her body's strength. Her hands pressed against the floor. Her body slowly stood up again. She slowly lifted her face. Their gazes were equal.

"No... I understand."

Tezza took a deep breath. The strange feeling that still bothered her. Her breath was held for a moment before being exhaled quickly. She bowed her head and her feet stepped slightly backward.

"Y-you...,"

"I don't believe—"

For one more time, Tezza lifted her head. Her eyes stared forward more bravely. Obsidia's face was standing in front of her. Expressionless. Standing calmly as if nothing happened.

"Y-you really... killed them,"

One step was heard echoing in the hallway. The feeling that bothered Tezza began to enter her throat. Her hand touched her mouth. The light in the room seemed to blur her vision for a moment.

"Just by remembering it... I feel—"

At a close distance. Tezza's words were cut off just before she finished, right in front of her face.

Their faces—the distance was very close.

"So what?"

"Didn't you want it too—"

"No!"

Both of their foreheads touched, sticking to each other. A cold sensation stung Tezza's forehead. The yellowish light that had been filling Tezza's eyes. Slowly, a green sparkle mixed in and replaced it completely.

Their faces, which were very close, overshadowed the stone light. Tezza's breath was held. Her eyes stared at the light radiating from the green eyeballs right in front of her. Without blinking even once.

Like a diamond.

Beautiful.

Enchanting.

Calming and it feels... intoxicating.

Tezza's mind, which was still fixed, was suddenly cut off. Obsidia's left shoulder was pushed softly by Tezza's hand.

"Stay away from me!" Tezza said loudly.

Long black hair swung. Heavy vibrations on the floor. Obsidia's steps were unbalanced as she stumbled back a few steps.

"What exactly are you?"

"...That eye, are you human?" Tezza's eyes trembled staring at Obsidia.

The greenish eyeballs glanced to the corner of the eye, her face bowed low to the left. What Obsidia was feeling, from her facial expression, could not be known. Obsidia looked at Tezza again.

"Wait a moment, give me time to calm myself." Obsidia bowed for a moment while closing her eyes.

"Hah," replied Tezza softly. When Obsidia looked at her again, Tezza strengthened her feet, which stood straight, stepping on the floor.

"Tezza, you are truly unique,"

"I like your mind and I want to possess it." Obsidia's feet stepped forward.

Seeing Obsidia approaching, Tezza felt her chest being pierced.

"Sorcerer! Don't come closer." Responding to Obsidia's movement. While clenching her fists, Tezza stepped back.

"Fight? Run? Whatever it is, if you don't surrender yourself to me, you will regret it." But for some reason, Obsidia stopped approaching her right then and there.

Seeing her like that, even though a bit trembling, Tezza stopped moving backward and began to look on in confusion.

"This ship... is sailing in the middle of Lake Aipsak, right?" Obsidia asked as if she indeed knew what she was asking.

Tezza did not reply and slowly the tension in her body decreased.

"Maybe in about four hours it will reach the Island... without law. Then what? What will happen?"

Hearing that, Tezza's hand jerked softly backward.

"Listen, I am also a victim here and because of that... I will kill everyone on this ship,"

"Of course, because I want you, I have excluded you,"

"The four people on the deck, I will kill them too. Then afterward I will save you." After speaking at length, Obsidia extended her hand toward Tezza.

"Wait... so you are also—"

"Then how... can you know—"

The green sparkling blink seemed to help Obsidia reply.

"Isn't it that for you... I am not human?"

Stunned, staring at Obsidia. The sound of swallowing was heard softly in Tezza's throat. Obsidia's hand, which was initially still without a reply, moved to stroke her own hair softly.

"Ellie Tezza. How will the younger sibling react when they know their beloved older sibling died in vain."

An expression of disbelief radiated from Tris Tezza's eyes.

"Why—"

"Poor... the younger sibling. Never knew where their older sibling disappeared to," Obsidia said with a tone that was slightly weaker at the beginning.

"Should I tell the younger sibling, their older sibling is trapped and died tortured by crazy people on the island without law,"

Tezza's fingers, which previously stopped clenching, slowly tightened again.

"Luminos City, they live there, right?"

Tezza's hand swung at the side of her body. Her steps approached quickly toward where Obsidia stood. Seeing Tezza's movement, Obsidia just stood staring.

"I also have limits... If you touch me again—"

That sentence was cut off. Both of Obsidia's shoulders were gripped. Her body tilted backward, facing the push. Stumbling back a few steps. Until her body was brought to crash into the hallway wall.

"So strong, I like you." Obsidia's back was pressed firmly against the wall.

Suddenly Obsidia and Tezza's bodies vibrated. But, it did not come from them. Instead, it was the wall and floor that vibrated violently. Followed by the sound of an explosion that seemed muffled. Both people simultaneously lifted their heads for a moment.

"It seems something is happening on the ship's deck. Can you tell me the way again," said Obsidia, her voice as if whispering in Tezza's ear.

Little by little, the push that was pressing on Obsidia disappeared.

"Are your words r-r-really trustworthy," said Tezza, stuttering while releasing her grip on Obsidia's shoulders.

"A brave action... I like that,"

The green light in front of Tezza closed.

"You can trust me, just relax, I will kill these people." Obsidia turned her gaze for a moment.

Although it seems, I missed one person on the fourth floor.

"The person on the deck right now...," said Tezza.

"Dr. Xavier and R'ogues, they are Sorcerers too. Are you sure you can win against them," she continued.

"You will know the answer soon,"

Right after Obsidia's words, the vibration from the top of the ship was felt again. Although it felt weaker.

"What is happening up there?" Tezza began to think of other possibilities in her head.

"If that's the case, can you please guide the way, Tezza," said Obsidia.

"O-okay." Replied Tezza.

I don't know what Tezza was thinking. But, she began to step first, followed by Obsidia. As their steps passed the room full of blood earlier, Obsidia's words stopped Tezza's steps.

"Before we continue, can you get that for me,"

Tezza, who did not even glance inside there, was a bit surprised.

"W-what?!"

Tezza was initially hesitant but finally entered quickly. When she came out, she gave the black glasses Obsidia requested. Even though Tezza had to hold back nausea because of it.

Their steps continued along the hallway with light that began to dim. Step by step, they passed the stairs.

Although Obsidia and Tezza's destination was the ship's deck. At the same time, something unknown to both of them was happening on the floor below.

The vibration of the wooden floor would not stop. The steps of two young boys mixed as they navigated the hallway in panic. As if they were being chased by something, the expressions on their faces were full of fear.

Their bodies broke the air. The candle flames on the hallway walls were disturbed. Their shadows moved quickly. One of them who was running faster had to stop, seeing the hallway in front of him pitch black. There was only one path in his mind right then, a door right on the left side of the hallway.

His hand slammed against the door leaf, turning the knob quickly and in a rush. The air was exhaled quickly as the two people entered there. They stood while catching their breath.

In the middle of the silence of the room. There was only the sound of their breath. One lantern flame in the middle of the room was still burning, providing a little light in the darkness. One young boy who had entered first observed the surroundings. Seeing chests and barrels in the corners of the room, the idea of hiding came into his head.

But everything was already too late.

Heavy footsteps were heard from outside the room.

Getting closer.
