Chapter 9 - World Systems and Power Tiers

The academy's grand lecture hall was filled with students, the polished stone floor reflecting the morning sunlight streaming through tall, arched windows. Today, the headmaster's announcement had drawn every student here—not for combat, but for knowledge. The air buzzed with anticipation and whispered speculation.

Arthur Frederick sat quietly among the sea of nobles and elites, his System interface hidden under his robes. He had learned long ago that silence and observation often revealed more than loud words or flashy displays. Today's topic was crucial: the world systems and the power tiers of Alora, knowledge that would define every adventurer, warrior, and mage's path in the years to come.

Professor Elyon Vire, the theoretical teacher assigned to lead the lecture, stepped forward. His long robes rustled as he moved, and his piercing gaze swept the room. "Welcome," he said, voice calm but commanding. "Today, you will learn the framework of power that governs not only this academy, but the entire world of Alora. Understanding it is not optional—it is essential for survival, influence, and progression."

A hush fell over the students as he continued. "Alora is a world shaped by struggle, talent, and ambition. Power is not absolute—it is measured, ranked, and recognized globally. Every mage, warrior, or noble must understand these tiers if they hope to survive outside these walls."

He raised a hand, and a magical hologram shimmered into the center of the hall, displaying six concentric circles, each glowing faintly. "These are the world-recognized power tiers," he explained.

The Tiers of Power:

Novice / Initiate

Beginners learning the basics of combat, magic, or system usage.

Little influence; easily overpowered.

Adept / Practitioner

Competent fighters capable of handling minor beasts, small-scale missions, or team combat.

Most academy graduates remain here.

Master

Skilled and recognized. Can lead squads, control territory, and challenge significant threats.

Names are known across regions.

Grandmaster

Elite among the elite. Rare individuals whose abilities can alter the outcome of wars, tame legendary beasts, or shift politics.

Only a select few reach this level.

Legend / Ascendant

Almost mythical. Those whose power, ideas, or influence shape nations and history.

Few have reached this rank; the Dark EMPEROR was once counted among them.

Divine / God-Tier

Reality-altering powers. Rare beyond measure.

The Transmigator, who reshaped Alora, occupies this echelon.

Arthur's eyes flicked to his System interface, comparing the tiers to his current stats. Misfit condition hidden, he realized that his strength and speed bonus, coupled with system efficiency, gave him an unusual edge. While his mana was halved, he could operate strategically in ways other students could not.

Professor Elyon continued, "Each tier is not just a measure of raw strength. Efficiency, skill versatility, intelligence, and even ingenuity determine your rank. A Master may be stronger than an Adept in combat, but a clever Adept could outmaneuver a Master in certain circumstances."

Murmurs spread through the hall. Nobles whispered among themselves, some skeptical, others impressed. Kael Draven, a student sitting a few rows ahead, scribbled notes furiously, his jaw tight. Arthur noted the flicker of determination in his eyes—this would be someone to watch.

Professor Vire raised a hand, summoning spectral examples of combat sequences between different tiered individuals—shadows dueling, spells weaving through the air, warriors clashing with precise strikes. Students gasped at the disparity of skill between tiers.

"The world recognizes these ranks," the professor concluded. "Your performance, achievements, and growth will determine how quickly you ascend. Understanding your position relative to the world allows you to plan, survive, and thrive. Those who ignore it are doomed to failure."

The lecture ended, but students remained in awe, whispering about the implications. Arthur leaned back in his seat, letting the data from the holograms sync with his System. He could simulate fights, project outcomes, and determine optimal growth paths. To everyone else, he was a quiet, talented newcomer. To himself, he was already plotting how to climb higher than anyone expected.

Outside the hall, the day's sunlight touched the academy spires. Students filed out, buzzing with ambition, envy, and curiosity. Arthur walked among them silently, mind already on the next step. The world was vast, dangerous, and tiered. And he was ready to navigate it—carefully, strategically, and with twice the effort.
