Chapter 146 - CHAPTER 146 — THE GUARDIAN OF THE WORLD

The sky above the Fire Continent turned completely black.

There was no red glow from the lava.

No golden light from the Guardians.

No stars.

Only the void descending from the sky.

The Abyss Devourer's attack fell like the end of everything, aimed directly at one small point at the edge of the crater.

Arga.

WHOOOOOOMMMMM!

The air tore apart.

The ground lifted.

Lava erupted like waves of fire.

For one terrible moment, the entire world seemed to hold its breath.

"ARGA!"

Sinta ran without thinking.

Bimo charged after her.

But Kai stopped them both with one glowing hand.

"Don't!"

His eyes burned gold, but his voice cracked.

"If you go in there…"

He stared at the black storm.

"…you'll disappear."

Bimo clenched his teeth so hard that his jaw trembled.

"So we're just supposed to stand here?!"

Kai didn't answer.

Because he was barely holding himself back from stepping forward himself.

Ahead of them—

Arga stood alone.

His body was covered in glowing cracks.

Blood ran down from his temple.

His legs trembled beneath the weight of energy far too great for any human to bear.

He was afraid.

Terrified.

Not because he was afraid of dying.

He was afraid of failing to protect everyone standing behind him.

He turned slightly.

He saw Sinta crying as she struggled against Kai's grip.

He saw Bimo trembling because he couldn't help.

He saw Farhan and Lila, both pale with fear.

He saw Dika, Rani, and all the friends who had come this far with him.

Then he saw Pak Rahmat…

staring at him with tears in his eyes.

Arga gave a faint smile.

"Thank you…"

His voice was barely a whisper.

"…for making it this far with me."

He opened the MBG Lunchbox.

Inside, twenty-four glowing rice grains slowly spun in the darkness.

Their light was soft.

Warm.

Like home.

Arga raised the lunchbox toward the sky.

"This energy…"

His breath trembled.

"…doesn't belong to me."

The void descended closer.

"It belongs to everyone…"

Golden light began to seep between his fingers.

"…who still chooses to live."

WHOOOOOOMMMMM!

Golden light burst from Arga's body.

It wasn't an explosion meant to destroy.

It was an explosion that embraced.

A warm wave swept across the entire crater.

Cracked rocks stopped collapsing.

The burning air grew still.

Even the raging lava slowed, as if it had heard something older than anger.

Sinta stopped struggling.

Tears streamed down her face.

"Arga…"

The Guardians raised their heads.

Ignivar Draco roared from within the flames.

Ursus Glacialis rose from the icy mist.

Solaris Lion ignited its solar mane.

Himal Yaksha slammed its feet against the earth.

The Forest Guardian raised roots from the dead soil.

Above them—

Gaia Primordia spread her golden wings.

They all felt the same thing.

Not a command.

Not power.

Hope.

Kai stepped beside Arga.

The golden light within him began to flow.

"I used to think a Guardian had to stand alone."

He looked at Arga.

"But I was wrong."

He placed a hand on Arga's shoulder.

"I'm here."

Sinta stepped forward next.

Her hands were trembling, but she stood firmly beside Arga.

"You're an idiot."

Tears continued to fall from her eyes.

"If you're going to save the world…"

She lightly punched Arga's shoulder.

"…don't do it alone."

Bimo came over, roughly wiping his eyes.

"Don't get the wrong idea."

He stood on Arga's other side.

"I didn't come here because I'm getting emotional."

He swallowed hard.

"I just haven't had the chance to tell you that you're the best friend I've ever had."

Dika stood beside Bimo and gave a faint smile.

"And I haven't had my vacation yet."

Bimo nodded.

"Exactly."

Farhan approached, carrying his laptop with its cracked screen.

"I hate the dangerous parts."

Lila stood beside him.

"Me too."

They looked at each other, then nodded.

"But we're still here."

Pak Rahmat came last.

His steps were slow.

His body was exhausted.

His face was covered with old and fresh wounds.

He stood in front of Arga.

For a moment, the old man simply looked at the boy he had once picked up, trained, scolded, and protected.

Then his hand gently touched Arga's head.

"I've always been afraid this day would come."

His voice trembled.

"Afraid you'd have to carry the burden I once failed to carry."

A tear rolled down his cheek.

"But I was wrong again."

He smiled with pride.

"You're much stronger than I ever was."

The MBG lunchboxes began to glow together.

Dozens of glowing rice grains filled the air.

Tiny lights.

But countless in number.

Kai whispered,

"This is the real power."

He looked at everyone.

"Not the Cores."

"Not monsters."

"Not legends."

"People protecting one another."

The sky trembled.

The Abyss Devourer roared in fury and unleashed an even greater wave of nothingness.

But this time—

Arga wasn't alone.

He raised his hand.

All the light converged on him.

The twenty-four rice grains spun faster and faster.

Then, at the center of them—

a new light was born.

Small.

Pure.

Calm.

Farhan stared at his screen as the readings exploded.

"No way…"

Lila covered her mouth.

"The twenty-fifth grain…"

Its pulse echoed across the world.

BOOM.

In the forest, leaves trembled.

Across the savannah, the wind stopped.

In the mountains, snow slowly cascaded down the slopes.

At the poles, the ice reflected the golden light.

Across the oceans, the waves bowed.

The Earth answered.

Arga opened his eyes.

There was no anger in them.

Only resolve.

"This world…"

He stared at the Abyss Devourer.

"…is not your food."

He lowered his hand.

All the light of the world shot toward the sky.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The massive beam pierced through the void.

It shattered the black wave.

Then struck the Abyss Devourer directly in the chest.

For the first time, the creature screamed.

The portal cracked.

CRAAAAACK!

Gaia Primordia charged from above.

Ignivar Draco unleashed magma from below.

Solaris Lion burned through its black wings.

Ursus Glacialis froze its claws.

Himal Yaksha slammed into its body with a mountain of stone.

The Forest Guardian bound it with roots of living energy.

All the Guardians of the world attacked as one.

The portal collapsed.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

The Abyss Devourer was dragged back into the darkness.

The cracks across the sky slowly closed.

Light returned.

The wind returned.

The world breathed again.

The crater fell silent.

No explosions.

No roars.

Only the sound of people breathing—

people who were still alive.

Arga remained standing.

One second.

Two.

Then his knees gave out.

Sinta caught him before he hit the ground.

"Arga!"

She held him tightly.

"Can you hear me?!"

Arga slowly opened his eyes.

A faint smile touched his lips.

"The world…"

He whispered weakly.

"…it's still noisy, huh?"

Bimo laughed through his tears.

"Shut up. Heroes aren't supposed to be this annoying."

Gaia Primordia slowly descended.

The ancient Guardian looked at Arga, still held tightly in his friends' arms.

Then she lowered her head.

Not to a king.

Not to a god.

But to a human.

One by one, the other Guardians did the same.

A silent gesture of respect.

Then their bodies transformed into light and returned to their respective Cores.

Pak Rahmat sat down on the ground.

For the first time since this all began—

he allowed himself to cry.

"We did it…"

He laughed softly through his tears.

"These crazy kids actually did it."

Several days later—

The sky was peaceful again.

The forests grew greener.

Flowers bloomed across the savannah.

The snow glittered beneath the sunlight.

The oceans were calmer.

Farhan stared at the energy map.

"All the Cores are stable."

Lila smiled.

"For the first time."

Bimo collapsed into a chair.

"I officially deserve a year-long vacation."

Dika nodded.

"Agreed."

Near the window—

Arga stood with his arm wrapped in bandages.

The MBG Lunchbox rested in his hand.

Inside, twenty-five glowing rice grains spun peacefully.

Kai stood beside him.

"The world is safe."

Arga looked toward the sky.

"For now."

Far away, in a massive city—

the leader of the Dominion stood on a high balcony.

He studied the report detailing the destruction of the first portal.

Then he smiled.

"Interesting."

He closed his tablet.

"If one door fails…"

He looked up at the stars.

"…we'll open an older gate."

Far out in the silent reaches of space—

something moved.

Not a dragon.

Not a Guardian.

Not a World Eater.

Something that caused the stars around it to dim.

And for the first time—

even the Earth felt afraid.
