Chapter 113: potions master tournament
"Professor Mcgonagall, these cards are not easy to make. There are many problems that needed to be addressed like the amount of magic, the structure of magic… So I need strong and more magical materials to solve this problem…."

After that Jack was dropped back at the Malfoy mansion. He was not idle as tomorrow he is going for the potions competition. The dueling competition is in the next week. So he is completely packed for a while.
After coming back Jack is exhausted but he did not forget to massage Narcissa till she was satisfied before moving on with his work. On the next day the man in black robs appeared at the Malfoy mansion.
He has the face that his parents died just now. He could not unload the load in his stomach in the morning and bird shot their droppings straight into his mouth. It was funny to watch his expression, after he lost everything including his love he became like this.

Who can say that they are right, when the things happen in such a complicated way? Jack came over as Snape spoke with Narcissa about taking Jack for a tournament. Snape then took Jack without saying much.
"Hold my hand tightly, if you don't want to be dropped off somewhere in the middle."
He said with a stern voice. Jack simply reached out and held on to the wrist of professor Snape. But professor Snape felt like he was clamped by something hard like it was made out of steal or something harder.
He looked at the hand of Jack twice with widened eyes but did not say anything. They vanished from there and appeared at an old looking building. Professor Snape moved forward while Jack let go of his arm and followed behind silently.
In the old building, there is a reception desk at the entrance here they have to register before moving on into the alchemy competition. But they were shocked to find out that Jack is actually the youngest of the participants.
Well his official age is only 14 while his physical age is over 16 years. The registration was easy as Jack was young and professor Snape that is famous in the circle of potions masters is present with Jack.
When they entered into the room behind the registration, they looked at the huge hall filled with many potions making stations on one side. It is almost like a cooking competition or something like that.
On the other side there is the sitting and waiting area. The participants are sitting here along with the guardians and teachers that they came here with. On conservative estimate there are over 100 participants.
Also most of them are over 17 years old. Also there are not many girls here with good appearance that knocked on the thoughts of Jack. Well not everyone can be like Hermione that is good at potions making.
The potions making tournament would have three rounds.
First is the identification round where they have to identify many materials used in potions. The highest number of identifications in the shortest time would be ranked. After that half of the members would be eliminated.
Second is to make a normal potion that they were asked to make. There will be a list of potions and they can choose one among the many. Based on the quality of the potion that was made and the time it took they can move to the third round.
Third is to make a very difficult potion that needs careful control and preparations. Also the time limit for this is also shorter. After all some potions requires days to make and they cannot stay that long.
For the third round they will give a potion that is complicated and requires understanding of the materials to make. The time for making this potion is usually short and the entire thing would be completed quickly.
This is the process of alchemy test that is potions tournament. Only the people that passed the first test can take the ingredients to the second test. They are waiting for the deadline to come before closing the entry to the competition.
There is still an hour till the closing. Jack simply sat beside professor Snape that was silent all the time. Jack is not so proficient in the potions. Well he is good but he is not super like those geniuses.
He has to see if he could get the first place in this competition or not. Well most people here are considered seniors to Jack. Even though he has the memory of many things he did not practice the complicated and useless things most of the time.
There is also the case where people would leak the test information for money and that is high in the competitions like this related to potions. After all potions have formula and one can practice it perfectly.
Even his transfigurations tournament is like that. Some people would practice the things early, if not they will not be able to make the complicated organs with such precision. Jack looked at the faces of the participants.
The reason they can practice potions before is because, for competitions like this the potions selected are with materials that are easy to find and are cheap. If they are costly the organizers would go bankrupt.
So they usually put on the complicated potions for test with cheap ingredients. The number is also small and easy to obtain.
