"Alright, fans! Let me be your guide through these two worlds," Guinaifen announced, her eyes reflecting the glow of her dual-monitor setup. "As for the VR 'Real' version... well, your favorite streamer isn't a Vidyadhara high-elder with a mountain of gold, so we'll have to stick to the screens tonight!"
The screens flickered to life. Exquisite 3D models of Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur roared in a cinematic loop, backed by a high-fidelity orchestral version of the theme music.
"The graphics are insane for a startup," Guinaifen noted, her skepticism melting. "But we've seen pretty trailers before. Let's see if the engine actually purrs."
She and Sushang hit 'Start' simultaneously. The game opened with the familiar face of Professor Oak. After the usual character customization, the two protagonists appeared in their starting rooms.
"Wait, is that a Xianzhou-style interior?" Sushang asked, leaning closer to her phone. "The window lattice, the low table... it feels like home."
Julian had been clever. While the Pokémon were universal, he had used the Alliance's assets to make the world feel familiar to the Luofu's initial player base. It wasn't a cheap skin; it was a seamless blend of Earth's IP and Xianzhou's elegance.
Guinaifen picked Charmander. Sushang, charmed by the wiggling sprout on its back, went with Bulbasaur.
"I still want a Pikachu," Sushang pouted. "Why is it always the 'Starters' first? Julian needs to hear my complaints!"
"Just catch one in the tall grass later!" the chat chimed in.
"Strongly demand a Pikachu Edition!"
"The Bulbasaur is actually cuter than the anime version. Look at that tail-wiggle!"
The tutorial battle with Gary triggered immediately, and the fundamental differences between the two versions became clear.
Sushang's mobile version used a classic turn-based interface with sleek buttons for 'Fight,' 'Bag,' and 'Run.' Guinaifen's PC version, however, was a full-motion action game. She had a stamina bar, a dodge-roll, and a dynamic camera that followed Charmander's every move.
"They really built two different games," a viewer commented. "I thought it was a money-grab, but this is a serious investment. Can they even break even on this?"
Sushang's battle was a lesson in tactics. She faced off against Gary's Charmander with her Bulbasaur.
"Fire vs. Grass? You're already at a disadvantage, Sushang!" Guinaifen teased.
"I don't even have Razor Leaf yet," Sushang complained, scrolling through her two moves: Tackle and Growl. "It's just a physical brawl for now!"
The animation was shockingly expressive. When Bulbasaur used Tackle, it lunged with its full weight, sending the enemy Charmander tumbling. When it got hit back, the little dinosaur wobbled on its feet, shaking its head to clear the cobwebs.
"The personality in these models is incredible," Guinaifen said, impressed. "Even for a turn-based game, it feels alive."
Sushang, trying to be clever, used Growl to lower the opponent's attack. But in the early game, the turn she spent debuffing cost her too much health. A final Tackle from the rival sent her Bulbasaur fanning its eyes.
"Nooo! I lost!"
"You over-thought it, Sushang," Guinaifen laughed. "It's Level 5. Just hit it until it stops moving!"
Guinaifen's PC tutorial was more intense. Her Charmander faced a Squirtle, but this time, the battle had a "True Dodge" mechanic. A visual indicator showed the Squirtle's line of sight for its Water Gun.
"It's an action-reflex system," Guinaifen explained, her fingers dancing on the keyboard. "If I dodge too early, the AI adjusts its aim. If I dodge perfectly at the last second, it triggers a 'Reflex Window' where I can counter-attack while the enemy is recovering."
She watched the blue line on the ground. As the Squirtle let out a stream of water, Guinaifen hit the spacebar. Charmander rolled through the spray, the embers on its tail flaring as it lunged in for a fire-enhanced scratch.
"This is going to test people's skills," she grinned. "But man, it feels good when it lands."
As the girls progressed toward the first route, the chat was no longer debating the game's quality. They were asking for the release date. Julian Reed, watching the numbers climb, knew the 100-million Credit gamble was about to pay off.
"The world is ready," Julian whispered. "Now, let's see how they handle the first Gym."
