A slim girl approached Sean politely just as we reached the start of the trail. "Going for a run, Gamma Sean?"
"Yes, Miley. Fifteen miles today," he said, smiling down at her.
She wrung her hands together. "Do you mind if Maisie and I come along? We do not like running alone in the woods."
I watched Sean deliberate and felt an immediate pang of sympathy for her. Just as he looked ready to turn her down I stepped in.
"Of course," I said. "Always good to have numbers."
Miley's eyes snapped to me with a grateful smile. "Really?"
Sean grumbled beside me. "If Nova says so."
Her twin appeared a moment later, looking almost identical, and the four of us stretched together before Sean took the lead. We synced our watches and hovered over the start button.
"Follow me, do not stray, do not fall behind," Sean said firmly. The twins nodded. He turned and raised an eyebrow at me specifically, knowing full well I had a habit of drifting.
"Yeah okay," I muttered.
