Somehow Molly and I had made it outside after dancing until our feet gave up on us entirely. We were sitting on the steps of an old fountain, the night settled dark and warm around us, a thin crescent moon hanging up above like it had been placed there just for decoration.
"Stars so pretty," Molly slurred, head tilted back.
"The moon looks like a toenail," I giggled.
She laughed and we both leaned back on our hands to stare up at the sky together. All the stars had gone soft and blurry at the edges, big glowing blobs instead of points of light. I wondered distantly if the world was ending and decided Molly needed to know immediately.
"Can I tell you a secret?" I whispered.
Molly's head rolled slowly toward me, her face lit up with drunk excitement. I was having a bit of trouble focusing on her properly but the blur in a puffy pink dress was definitely her. The dress was still the best thing I had ever seen in my life.
"Yess! I lo-ove secrets!" She hiccupped.
