"I can only tell you that this matter is deeply involved, but your Empress is indeed not involved in it." Luna tapped her finger on the table. "Honestly, you might as well take your Empress and run away."
As long as the Elf Empress stayed in the territory of the Elf Race, she would have no power to resist the Elf Elder Council for a single day. Having ascended the throne at a young age with an impure bloodline, such an Empress would undoubtedly be at the mercy of the Elder Council.
Even the previous Empress might not have been able to suppress those deep-rooted old relics, let alone the current Empress who had almost no foundation.
"If it were really that simple, that would be great. You don't know how heavily guarded the palace is; even for me, I have to undergo layer upon layer of inspections just to enter." The elf girl sighed. Taking the Empress out was absolutely an impossible task.
"That's something you'll have to figure out. I have something to do, so I'm heading back." Luna downed the red liquid in her glass and stood up to leave.
The elf girl also stood up. "I need to return to the clan as well. I hope Her Majesty has been doing okay these past few days."
"She probably isn't." Luna remarked that based on what the girl had just said, the current Elf Empress was probably unable to even sleep peacefully.
"Can't you say something nice? Maybe Her Majesty has a thick skin and doesn't care about those rumors?"
"If she really had a thick skin, would you have needed to come to me?"
"Sigh, that's true." The elf girl shook her head. "I'm off."
"I won't see you out." Watching the elf girl disappear outside the tavern, Luna's gaze shifted to a dark corner.
An old friend of hers was crouching there.
"Your eyes are as sharp as ever. Long time no see, Miss Xue." A man in a black suit walked out of the shadows. He bowed to Luna very gentlemanly. "I wonder if I might have the honor of having a drink with you?"
"No time. Say what you have to say." Facing this man, Luna's attitude wasn't as good.
Regarding Luna's rejection, the man's expression didn't flicker. He always wore that same smiling face; it was said that even when killing people, he had this expression.
"I want to know, where did that old eagle from Central City run off to?"
"I would like to know the answer to that question as well."
After Elder Ying caused a scene, he vanished into thin air. No one knew where the old man had gone.
His subordinates were completely unprepared for their boss's sudden disappearance, which had led to significant turmoil in the underground forces of Central City recently.
The man had come to find Luna precisely because of this matter.
"You don't know either?" Luna's answer disappointed the man. He had already experienced this disappointment several times.
He had already sought out all the famous information brokers in Central City, but not a single person knew where that cunning old eagle had run off to.
"Maybe he ran outside the city." Luna said half-jokingly.
That was the worst-case scenario. With the current management capabilities of the Human World, the ruins outside the city were completely lawless lands.
Trying to catch an old fox of an eagle in such a vast place was basically impossible.
"Forget it, forget it. Since he left on his own, we'll have to clean up this mess." The man shook his head and walked back into the shadows.
After a strange fluctuation of energy, the man's presence vanished.
Being elusive was his greatest characteristic.
"There's a feeling that a storm is coming…" Luna stood there for a while. She keenly sensed that a great battle was about to erupt in the dark side of Central City.
The power vacuum created by the sudden disappearance of a giant would inevitably lead to the remaining giants of similar strength confronting each other; all of them wanted to devour Elder Ying's territory.
But their opponents were thinking the same thing.
Negotiation?
Negotiating with strength was the way these people living in the darkness liked best.
"I should remind Her Majesty that it's best not to go out at night recently." Luna thought to herself.
This matter didn't have much to do with them. As for the internal conflicts of humans, they, the Demon Race, shouldn't get involved blindly.
Her Majesty was still recovering from her injuries; it was better to be safe during these days.
…
"It looks like your situation is quite dire." After nightfall, Melanie, who had been busy outside all day, brought the Squad Leader to Leticia's room.
The Squad Leader looked completely drained of energy, making Leticia suspect that her own condition might be slightly better than the Squad Leader's.
"I actually feel that the Squad Leader's situation is even more dire." Leticia reached out and pointed to the chair on the side. "Sit down first."
"Ah, I can't go on like this." The Squad Leader plopped down onto the chair, her eyes completely devoid of highlights.
This girl was probably already broken.
"I heard from that York person that you've been doing serious special training recently. What's up, is she lying to me?"
"Senior… Little York isn't lying to you. I am training seriously, and this is all voluntary, but it's really tiring." The Squad Leader braced herself on the chair; it was clear she was very tired. "I feel like I could fall asleep the moment I touch a pillow."
"Then why did you come over? You should get some good rest." Leticia held the Squad Leader's small hand. The burning sensation made her realize that the Squad Leader was indeed training hard.
"Hey, you surnamed York, you aren't going to let the Squad Leader go back alone later, are you?"
Although the Squad Leader had plenty of blood energy in her body, her mental state wasn't very good.
Falling asleep the moment she touched a pillow wasn't an exaggeration.
Leticia didn't know where the Squad Leader's home was, but the distance from her place was certainly not short.
Letting the Squad Leader go back alone felt like a bad idea.
"She's staying next to my place tonight; I bought that room and renovated it too." Melanie said calmly.
"...You're awesome." Leticia held it in for a long time before blurting out that sentence. "I'm starting to suspect you bought this whole building."
Melanie nodded very calmly.
Slap! Leticia covered her face with her hand.
It really was like that!
"I was planning to play with you, Ohara, but looking at your state, I guess we'll have to wait a few days." The Squad Leader decisively ignored Melanie's nouveau riche behavior.
In Leticia's current state, forget about games. Even if she wanted to play, Kira would absolutely not let her touch the computer.
As for her phone, she had no interest in looking at it.
The discomfort coming from within her body was still quite obvious. Although she had Candice and Luna, two girls who were very good at taking care of people, Leticia still had to endure this kind of thing herself.
"If only I were a man." Leticia sighed with deep emotion; boys at least didn't have to suffer like this.
