Chapter 107 - Chapter 107: Resuming Action—Operation Start 1/3

"Operable? What do you mean?"

Syl noticed that the Power and Constitution of this card had both broken into triple digits, an improvement of more than just one level compared to a blue card.

But what Syl was most curious about was what the system's comment meant.

"Since you've asked so sincerely ^^"

"Then I shall mercifully tell you ^^)"

"I..."

"Hurry up."

"It means this card has a very high ceiling vv"

"If used well, it could even beat down Sharon?"

"Theoretically, yes."

Syl nodded and resumed staring at the card.

Whether it was the three stats or the skills, it looked quite powerful... she just didn't know why there was only an egg on the card?

Could it be that it hadn't hatched yet? Or was it in a state about to break the shell, and she had to transform into the Young Dragon herself to fully hatch?

It really is a Young Dragon!

This is way too young!

It's basically just hatched?!

Syl sighed and waved her hand; the card in her hand dissipated. She walked back to the bedside and threw herself straight onto the soft, large bed, preparing to sleep.

She had barely had any normal sleep these past few days. The frantic whispers in her mind and the tearing pain in her body had made it impossible for her to sleep peacefully.

It was only starting from this afternoon that things had improved slightly, giving Syl hope that she could finally sleep soundly.

Just as Syl was about to close her eyes and sleep, a soft knock came from the door.

By now, Syl had completely moved past the withdrawn and irritable state of a few days ago. Hearing the knock, she still didn't shout "come in," but instead asked directly:

"Is something the matter?"

Because Syl didn't know who was outside the door, she still didn't let the person enter to avoid seeing someone she didn't want to see.

"It's me... Annie, Your Highness Saintess..." a somewhat worried voice came from outside the door, "There's a letter for you... it was sent to you by Lady Jane."

Annie had been very worried ever since Syl started secluding herself in her room, but she didn't know how to open her mouth to comfort her.

So she could only try to find as many opportunities as possible to bring desserts to Syl, hoping that Syl would be a bit happier after eating them.

Of course, this method worked, because Syl's mood and somewhat runaway thoughts did indeed calm down a bit when she was eating desserts.

"Bring it here," Syl said flatly.

The door was pushed open, and Annie walked in with a letter, placing it by the round table. She then looked at Syl lying on the bed, said nothing more, and slowly turned to leave.

Only after Annie left did Syl prop herself up and slowly walk toward the round table.

Syl leaned on the round table, picked up the letter, and opened it.

"Hmm..."

After Syl finished reading, she pondered for a moment, then put the letter back into the envelope and set it aside.

The contents of Jane's letter weren't particularly important; it just expressed how much she missed Syl after not seeing her for so long, and then relayed Vera's wish to find an opportunity to talk. Vera was at the Church of Wisdom and she could go find her anytime.

"It just so happens I want to talk too."

Syl returned to the bedside and lay back down on the bed.

She knew Vera definitely wanted to talk about the Joker, and Syl could take this opportunity to feel out Vera's stance.

If Vera was truly a sharp person, she would definitely know what Syl was trying to say.

"Tomorrow is Wednesday..." Syl closed her eyes tiredly and thought silently, "Tomorrow I also have to go take a look at the Mana Tide, to see if I can find out anything from Little Monster."

And starting tomorrow, I also need to find a secret and safe place... Since I'm going to the Mana Tide as the Physician anyway, I might as well just have the Physician find Baro Bonsandi and have him look for a quiet house for me.

While thinking about tomorrow's plan, Syl slowly closed her eyes, turned over on the bed, wrapped herself in the thin quilt, and finally fell asleep almost instantly.

The next day, on the top floor of the Church of Hope, inside the Saintess of Hope's room.

Syl opened her eyes groggily on the bed and then looked at the clock on the wall.

The hour hand pointed to eleven, and outside the window it was still gloomy, looking like it was going to rain.

Syl's sleep could be described as quite comfortable. After getting up, she also felt that the whispers in her mind had lessened significantly.

It had dropped from the level of a Miami EDM festival to the level of distant square dancing... though it was still annoying.

After Syl finished washing up in the bathroom, she changed into a set of black church robes, finally opened the door, and walked out.

As soon as she opened the door, Syl saw Annie still standing there.

Annie didn't seem to expect the door to open suddenly; hearing the sound of the handle turning, she was startled and jumped back a short distance.

"Saint... Your Highness Saintess..." Annie looked at Syl, somewhat at a loss.

"Good morning," Syl nodded with a smile.

"Good... Morning!" Seeing Syl's smile, Annie finally felt completely at ease. She looked at Syl with slight excitement and repeated, "Good morning, Your Highness!"

"Have you seen Archbishop Aishala?" Syl looked at Annie and asked curiously, "It seems I haven't seen her lately."

The small golden shield on her body was still there, but Archbishop Aishala had never appeared.

"I'm not sure." Annie shook her head, her expression showing she really didn't know where Aishala had gone.

"Then what about Her Majesty the Pope?" Syl used an honorific.

"She's handling matters left over from the days she was away on the business trip," Annie thought for a moment and then continued, "Her Majesty asked me to tell you that she will come to see you once she's finished with her work."

"Okay." Syl nodded, stepped forward, and walked toward the stairs, "I'm going out for a bit."

"Aren't you going to leave after finishing lunch?" Annie followed Syl and asked further.

"No."

"Um..."

Seeing that Syl had no intention of staying for lunch, Annie stopped her steps and watched Syl walk away.

Annie always felt that her Saintess... seemed to have a feeling of avoiding the Church.

"It must be an illusion..." Annie shook her head, dismissing this somewhat absurd thought in her heart, "The Saintess must be going to digest the holy medicine..."

By this time, Syl had already put on her gold-rimmed glasses and was walking toward the main gate of the Church.

Except for the few people who could see Syl and would stop to greet her, the other lower-ranked nuns and monks treated Syl as if she weren't there.

After walking out of the Church and onto the plaza in front of the gate, Syl's pace slowed down slightly.

"Syl? You've recovered quite well?" Sharon, who had been standing in the plaza for who knows how long, stood up and looked at Syl with a smile, "Where are you going?"

"To the Sule District, to eat, and then find Jane and the others to play." Syl truthfully stated half of today's plan.

"Don't be too playful, and also pay attention to the digestion of the holy medicine," Sharon narrowed her eyes slightly and reminded, "Come back early tonight."

"Okay."
