Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: This Is Our Secret

The system prompt box merely flickered silently before vanishing.

However, the rather delicate situation on the scene had not disappeared.

"Jane... Jane! Wake up!"

Due to Jane's pressing movements, Syl felt the chair she was sitting on constantly tilting backward. She had to expend a lot of energy to maintain her balance so she wouldn't be pushed over completely.

And... damn it! Why is Jane so strong!

Syl found that she simply couldn't break free from Jane's embrace, a feeling that left her both embarrassed and annoyed.

When had she ever suffered such a grievance? If she could transform into the Joker or the Love Saint now... she would definitely pin Jane down and control her with a backhand, instead of being controlled to the point where she couldn't even move.

The most crucial point was that she had tried it on Edward before, and it didn't have this effect at all?!

The current Jane was like someone who had just finished'skating' and temporarily lost the ability to think, falling into hallucinations. She was unconsciously nuzzling into Syl's embrace, her mouth murmuring words that were embarrassingly hard to bear.

"Don't be like this... Jane..."

While pushing Jane away, Syl also had to keep an eye on the door. She was afraid someone might knock or push the door open at this moment; if that happened, her image as a Saintess would probably be ruined instantly... No, she had to calm Jane down quickly.

Syl shifted her posture, wrapping her left arm around Jane's back and gently stroking Jane's head with her right hand, saying softly:

"Jane... can you hear me? Hey..."

"Be good... let go, okay..."

No matter what Syl said, Jane just kept her eyes squinted and held Syl tightly, regardless of how much Syl tried to persuade her.

Now Syl was just thankful she was wearing a robe. If it were a shirt and vest or something, the buttons would probably have been rubbed off.

Fortunately, although words were ineffective, Syl's right hand was showing some results. Jane in her arms seemed to really enjoy the feeling of her head being stroked. Although she was still holding Syl tightly, she had stopped nuzzling around and looked like she was about to fall asleep.

"Phew..."

With Jane no longer moving around in her arms, Syl's heart settled slightly. At the same time, looking at Jane in her embrace, her feelings were a bit complicated.

It seemed that her Hand of Redemption hadn't significantly improved in terms of healing or curse-dispelling effects.

But in terms of boosting one's mood, the Hand of Redemption seemed a bit too exaggerated... it could instantly elevate a person's mood to a level of excitement similar to taking psychotropic drugs.

And there seemed to be no side effects.

Syl wasn't sure if it was addictive, but she knew she couldn't use her Hand of Redemption casually in the future.

The point that puzzled Syl the most was this:

She had only used her Hand of Redemption on Jane, Aishala, and Edward.

Why was Edward perfectly fine, with the effect being exactly the same as a normal Hand of Redemption?

But when facing Jane and Aishala, why was there such a strong euphoric effect?

Was it because Edward was actually injured?

Or was it for some reason... that it only produced this peculiar effect when cast on females?

Syl increasingly felt that this Hand of Redemption was somewhat useless; at least for now, it couldn't enhance her strength.

With a soft sigh, Syl used a bit of strength to pick Jane up, walked to her bed, and gently placed the seemingly sound-asleep Jane onto it. Then, applying a bit of force, she unclasped Jane's hands from her waist.

Syl planned to let Jane lie there until she woke up on her own, but before she woke, Syl had to come up with a set of explanations.

As for Jane's state just now... if Jane had no memory of it after waking up, Syl intended not to mention it. After all, those postures and movements would make anyone feel ashamed.

Taking advantage of the time Jane was asleep, Syl closed her eyes and tried her best to adapt to the remaining whispers in her mind.

About an hour later, Jane, who was lying on Syl's bed, woke up.

As if nothing had happened, Jane sat up with a slight smile and stretched, as if she had just had a good dream.

"Mm—"

After slightly stretching her somewhat sore lower back, Jane realized that she didn't seem to be sleeping in her own bed.

"Eh?"

Jane immediately looked down; her clothes and everything were intact. Aside from being slightly messy, there were no signs of anything being removed.

"I remember..." Jane frowned, then looked up and saw Syl sitting by the round table with her eyes closed. Only then did she seem to recall something.

"Syl? How did I fall asleep? Is this the effect of your Hand of Redemption?" Jane stood up, her body swaying slightly. She walked over to Syl and continued as Syl opened her eyes, "But I feel mentally blissful now, and my body feels much lighter."

Syl scrutinized Jane's face. Seeing that she truly seemed to have forgotten what happened earlier, Syl nodded and said, "It seems so. After I cast it, you fell into a daze and went to sleep. I carried you to the bed."

"Uh... did you carry me to the bed?" Jane scratched her cheek, looking a bit embarrassed. "Thank you, Syl."

Syl didn't know what to say for a moment and just shook her head stiffly: "...You're welcome."

Having done something 'bad' and then being thanked for it... this caused a tiny bit of shame to well up in Syl's heart.

"Then it must be a type of Divine Art that soothes the soul," Jane nodded, even helping Syl analyze it. "I feel as if my entire being has been cleansed from the soul outward. After waking up, all my negative emotions have faded... even the whispers of the Holy Medicine have lessened slightly."

"It can even help digest the Holy Medicine?" Syl's mouth opened slightly, seemingly finding it incredible.

"It seems so now," Jane nodded and said seriously. "This is truly a powerful Divine Art, Syl. If others knew about this, every member of the church might line up to beg you to use the Hand of Redemption on them."

"Of course, I will keep it a secret for you."

Jane naturally knew the rarity and importance of Syl's ability, so she made a promise on the spot that she wouldn't tell anyone.

"This..." Syl looked at her right hand, then at Jane in front of her.

Syl briefly imagined a scene where countless girls from other churches, either stuck by Holy Medicine or wanting to advance, all sought her out, begging her to use the Hand of Redemption on them, filling the room with beautiful young ladies clinging to her.

Syl's body trembled slightly.

Too terrifying. She would directly become a tool.

"Whatever you do, don't tell anyone, Jane," Syl quickly told a lie. "This takes too much out of me."

Hearing that Syl had used the Hand of Redemption on her despite the great toll it took, a wave of gratitude surged in Jane's heart.

"Yes, I won't say a word," Jane's voice took on a hint of tenderness. "This is our secret."
