Chapter 4 - Chapter 1.4: The engagement (Part 4)

Taiyo watched as his captain throws away her sword, a shaky but confident grin dancing on her lips as she challenges the teacher. There the captain goes again, cocky as always. Standing under the shade, he stares at the two clashing fists, punching and straight up fighting with the intent to kill- no, not kill, but at the very least, immobilise the other.

The fight got heated as Kai started using aura, a power that was dangerous to tap in without practice, But she has enough to be fine I'm sure, Taiyo winced, thinking back on his previous wounds and bruises because of that very power. I wonder if it will be enough for her to finally beat the master…

Crunch!

What- Taiyo stared blankly at the scene unfolding before him, Kai, the captain of the 2nd division, stood there while still in the punching stance, chest heaving and her former shield of aura gone, with not even a trace of that greyish-blue hue of light to be seen nor detected, had sweat and blood rolling down her face, as well as her now broken fist. Well shit. But on the other hand, while Kenshin, their instructor and one of the famous generals of Kazuko, was also breathing quite heavily compared to normal, he was still mostly fine, save for some bruises and cuts from Kais' attacks earlier.

Taiyo could only gape at what he was seeing, baffled by how strong his instructor is, but mostly… by how strong the captain became.

"You, go get a medic."

"H-huh?" Was his instructor calling him? Taiyo turned around, expecting to see another senior cadet. No one. "M-me?"

Kenshin sighed, pointing at him once more. "Yes you, cadet Taiyo was it? Get a medic. Fast."

I highly doubt a medic around here can cure a aura outburst, Taiyo thought, racking his mind for another option, fast. Will the princess be around here, I wonder. "Will calling Lady Star suffice, Sir?"

"That works too, now go." Phew.

Taiyo ran off quickly, shouting at passing cadets to fetch Lady Star and bring her to the training courtyard. He himself scans every room, corridor, for any trace of the future duchess, one of the best healers in Kazuko that specialises in healing mana, aura and qi outbursts.

Please be here. Taiyo begged mentally, throwing open the doors to the throne room ignoring the warning cries of the guards standing by. Kai could die any moment if I fail to find Star. His eyes settled on the far end of the room, and there she was, the famed 'one of the best healer' Star was standing next to her parents and Prince Sky, all of them shocked at how bold and stupid Taiyo was acting right now.

Bothering the queen or simply entering the throne room without prior arrangement will often result in severe punishment. But I have a good reason right now, and, Taiyo glanced at Sky, who was now sporting a poker face, having gotten over his initial shock. I have faith that Sky might give me some leeway here.

"How dare you barge into-"

"Excuse my manners, Duke, but more urgent matters are at hand." Taiyo ignored the Dukes' protests, opting to instead walk towards Star and kneel in front of her, bowing his head as he spoke. "I have come to request for Lady Stars' aid, as my captain is experiencing an aura outburst, and needs immediate help." Fast.

Silence replied him, making Taiyo felt like years had passed instead of three seconds. Is she going to decline, but the captain is her personal knight-

"What is your name, knight?"

Taiyo looked up in confusion, as Star extended her hand towards him, waiting halfway as if she wants him to shake her hand in greeting, which, as a mere cadet, I can't. But what I can do-

He gently placed his palm over hers', with the other hand over his chestplate as he spoke.

"My name is Taiyo, Taiyo of Sir Grant."
