Chapter 3 - Lendoska in destruction

Scene 1 – The Ruins of Lendoska

A violent wind howled across the ruins of Lendoska City, carrying dust and ashes through the empty streets. The once-beautiful city had become nothing more than a graveyard of broken concrete and twisted metal. Tall buildings that once touched the sky now lay shattered across the ground, their walls cracked open like broken bones. Some towers had collapsed completely, leaving behind mountains of rubble that blocked the roads.

The streets were silent, yet the destruction told a loud story. Burn marks covered many of the buildings, as if a terrible fire had swallowed parts of the city. Cars were flipped upside down, their windows shattered and tires burned away. Street lamps leaned at strange angles, barely standing after whatever disaster had struck.

Pieces of glass sparkled on the ground as the wind pushed them slowly across the empty road. Torn posters flapped weakly against broken walls. Even the trees looked lifeless, their branches snapped and leaves scattered across the streets.

No voices could be heard. No footsteps. No sound of life.

Only the endless wind moving through the ruins of what used to be a thriving city.

Above the destruction, the dark gray sky hung low and heavy, as if the clouds themselves were mourning the fall of Lendoska. The air felt cold and uneasy, like the city was hiding a terrifying secret.

Something terrible had happened here.

And whoever caused it… was still out there.

Scene 2 – The Awakening

"Hey… Kyro! Kyro!"

A distant voice echoed through the quiet air.

At first, everything felt dark and heavy. Kyro's mind was surrounded by a strange silence, like he had been floating inside a deep ocean of sleep. The voice kept calling him again and again, slowly pulling him back toward consciousness.

"Kyro! Wake up!"

Kyro's eyelids slowly moved. His body felt stiff and weak, as if he had not moved for a very long time. With great effort, he finally opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw was the gray sky above him.

Then a face appeared in front of him.

A girl was standing beside him, looking down with worried eyes.

Kyro blinked several times, trying to focus. His vision was blurry at first, but slowly it became clearer.

The girl had long dark hair and gentle eyes. She looked older than someone Kyro remembered… but something about her face felt strangely familiar.

Kyro slowly pushed himself up from the ground, holding his head.

"Who… are you?" he asked weakly. "And how do you know my name?"

The girl gave a small, soft smile.

"I'm Rina," she said calmly. "I think you forgot me… but I never forgot you."

Kyro stared at her in confusion.

Rina continued speaking gently.

"Do you know what happened to this city?"

Kyro looked around him.

For the first time, he noticed the destroyed buildings, the broken streets, and the ruins surrounding them.

His eyes widened slightly.

"...No," he said quietly.

Rina's expression became serious.

"The whole city is destroyed," she said.

Kyro turned toward her quickly.

"Destroyed? By what?"

Rina took a slow breath.

"By a man."

Kyro frowned.

"A man? Who is he?"

Rina shook her head slowly.

"I don't know his name. But I saw him once…"

Her voice lowered slightly.

"He was wearing a mask. And black sunglasses. He also had a hat on his head."

Kyro suddenly froze.

His mind flashed back to a terrible memory.

The burning house.

The flames.

The mysterious figure standing inside the fire.

Kyro's eyes widened with shock.

"Is he… Mr. Unknown!?" Kyro suddenly shouted.

Rina stepped back slightly, surprised by his reaction.

"He's still alive!?" Kyro continued, his voice shaking.

Rina blinked.

"Mr. Unknown? Who's that?"

Kyro looked down at the ground. His fists slowly tightened.

After a moment of silence, he spoke quietly.

"...The killer of my father."

Rina's face softened with sympathy.

"Oh… I'm so sorry."

Kyro remained silent for a moment, staring into the ruins of the city.

Then something suddenly caught his attention.

He looked back at Rina carefully.

"Wait…"

He squinted his eyes.

"Why do you look so… old?"

Rina suddenly laughed softly.

"Old?"

Then she smiled.

"Oh! That's because I turned 28 last month."

Kyro's eyes widened in confusion.

"Twenty… eight?"

His mind began calculating rapidly.

"But… that can't be right."

Kyro stood up suddenly, staring at her.

"You were sixteen!"

Rina nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Kyro's voice trembled.

"...Then how did you become twenty-eight?"

Rina looked at him with a confused expression.

"What are you talking about?"

She paused before answering.

"It was twelve years ago, Kyro."

The words struck Kyro like lightning.

His entire body froze.

"Twelve… years…?"

His breathing became heavier.

He looked at his own hands as if trying to confirm reality.

His voice began to shake.

"Wait…"

He stepped backward slowly.

"D-does that mean…"

Kyro's eyes widened with pure shock.

"Did I… sleep… for twelve years!?"

Rina's eyes grew wide as well.

"W-What are you saying!?"

Kyro stood there silently, unable to move.

The world around him suddenly felt unfamiliar.

Everything had changed.

And the nightmare that destroyed Lendoska…

had happened while he was asleep.

For twelve years.

Scene 3 – Survivors of the Ruins

Kyro stood silently among the ruins of Lendoska, still trying to process what Rina had just told him. Twelve years. The number echoed again and again inside his mind like a hammer striking metal.

The cold wind blew across the destroyed street, moving dust and broken papers across the ground.

Kyro clenched his fists.

"Twelve years…" he whispered.

Rina looked at him with concern. "Kyro, calm down. I know it sounds impossible, but it's true."

Before Kyro could respond, a sudden sound came from behind a collapsed wall nearby.

CRUNCH.

Someone had stepped on broken glass.

Kyro instantly turned toward the sound.

"Who's there?" he said sharply.

From behind the rubble, three figures slowly stepped out.

The first was a tall young man with short brown hair and a serious face. He wore a dark jacket and carried a long metal pipe over his shoulder like a weapon.

Beside him stood a girl with short silver hair and sharp eyes. She looked calm but alert, scanning the area carefully.

Behind them was a shorter boy wearing a backpack that looked full of tools and supplies.

The tall man raised one hand slightly.

"Relax," he said. "We're not enemies."

Rina sighed with relief.

"Oh good… it's just you guys."

Kyro looked confused. "You know them?"

Rina nodded.

"Yes. They're survivors."

The tall man stepped forward.

"My name is Daren," he said. "We've been surviving in Lendoska for years."

The silver-haired girl crossed her arms.

"I'm Luna," she said calmly.

The boy with the backpack waved nervously.

"A-and I'm Milo."

Kyro studied them carefully.

"Survivors?" Kyro repeated.

Daren nodded.

"After the disaster, most people died or fled the city. Only a few of us remained."

Milo adjusted the straps of his backpack.

"We gather supplies and hide in safe areas," he explained. "Food is rare now."

Luna looked directly at Kyro.

"But you… you're new."

Rina spoke before Kyro could answer.

"He's not new."

Everyone looked at her.

"He just woke up."

Daren raised an eyebrow.

"Woke up?"

Kyro took a slow breath.

"I was asleep," he said. "For twelve years."

For a moment, none of them spoke.

Then Milo blinked rapidly.

"W-wait… twelve years!? That's insane!"

Luna narrowed her eyes, studying Kyro carefully.

"Is he telling the truth?"

Rina nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Daren scratched his chin thoughtfully.

"Well… that explains why he looks confused."

Kyro suddenly stepped forward.

"Tell me something," he said seriously.

The survivors looked at him.

"During those twelve years…" Kyro continued.

"Did you ever see a man wearing a mask… sunglasses… and a hat?"

The atmosphere suddenly changed.

Daren's expression became darker.

Luna slowly looked away.

Milo nervously shifted his weight.

Kyro noticed their reactions immediately.

"You have seen him," Kyro said.

Daren finally spoke.

"…Yes."

Kyro's eyes sharpened.

"Where is he?"

But Daren shook his head slowly.

"No one knows where he is."

Luna spoke quietly.

"But everyone knows one thing."

Kyro looked at her.

She met his eyes.

"He's the reason this city became hell."

The wind blew again through the ruins.

Kyro slowly clenched his fists.

His eyes burned with determination.

"So he's still out there…"

He looked toward the dark horizon of the destroyed city.

"Good."

The survivors looked at him in surprise.

Kyro's voice became colder.

"Because this time…"

"I'm awake."

Scene 4 – The Man Behind the Ruins

The wind continued to sweep through the broken streets of Lendoska as Kyro and the others stood among the ruins. The sky had grown darker, and the clouds above slowly swallowed the last light of the evening.

Daren looked toward the west side of the city.

"We should move," he said quietly. "Night isn't safe here."

Kyro frowned. "Why?"

Before Daren could answer, Luna suddenly raised her hand.

"Wait."

Everyone turned toward her.

She was staring at something far away between two collapsed buildings.

"What is it?" Milo asked nervously.

Luna didn't answer immediately.

Instead, she slowly pointed toward the distant street.

"There."

Kyro followed her finger.

At first, he saw nothing but shadows and broken structures. The wind moved pieces of dust through the empty road.

Then suddenly…

A figure appeared.

Far away, standing on top of a fallen building.

The man stood completely still, like a silent statue watching the destroyed city.

Even from that distance, several things were clear.

He wore a mask that hid his face.

Dark sunglasses covered his eyes.

A hat shadowed the upper part of his head.

And his long coat moved slightly in the wind.

The air suddenly felt colder.

Milo's voice shook.

"Is… is that him?"

Daren's face became tense.

"…Yes."

Kyro's heart started pounding.

His breathing became heavy.

The memory of the burning house flashed inside his mind again.

The same mysterious figure.

The same terrifying presence.

Kyro slowly stepped forward.

"Mr. Unknown…"

Rina grabbed his arm quickly.

"Kyro, wait!"

But Kyro didn't move his eyes away from the distant man.

For several seconds, the mysterious figure simply stood there, looking down at the ruined city.

Then slowly…

He turned his head.

Even from far away, it felt like he was looking directly at Kyro.

A deep silence filled the air.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

The wind howled through the broken streets as if the city itself feared what was about to happen.

Then something strange happened.

Mr. Unknown slowly raised one hand.

Not as an attack.

Not as a threat.

But almost like a greeting.

Kyro's fists tightened.

"You…"

But before anyone could react—

A strong gust of wind blew through the ruins.

Dust and debris filled the air, blocking their view for a moment.

When the dust finally cleared…

The fallen building was empty.

The mysterious man had disappeared.

Milo looked around frantically.

"H-he's gone!"

Daren scanned the rooftops.

"How did he move that fast…?"

Luna's eyes narrowed.

"He wanted us to see him."

Kyro remained completely still.

His eyes were locked on the empty building where the man had been standing.

Slowly, Kyro spoke.

"…He knows I'm awake."

Rina looked worried.

"What does that mean?"

Kyro's expression hardened.

"It means the real fight is starting."

The wind blew again across the ruined city.

Somewhere in the darkness of Lendoska…

Mr. Unknown was watching.

And the long nightmare that began twelve years ago…

had finally returned.
