Chapter 2 - Episode 2 – A New Life, A New Fear

The morning sunlight spilled through the large windows of Arnav Malhotra's mansion, but Ariya Verma didn't feel the warmth. She sat on the edge of the bed in her new room, staring at the unfamiliar walls. Everything smelled of luxury, but luxury meant nothing when her mind was still trapped in fear.

Arnav appeared quietly at the door, his presence as commanding as ever. "Breakfast is ready. Eat before we start your schedule," he said, his tone strict but not unkind.

Ariya swallowed hard. She wanted to protest, wanted to retreat back into the safety of hiding, but she remembered last night—the rage in her stepfather's eyes, the cruelty in her mother's smile. Here, at least, she wasn't alone.

At the dining table, Arnav watched her carefully. "You're tense. I know what you're feeling," he said. "It's normal. But you need to trust me. From now on, no one can hurt you—not them, not anyone."

Ariya's throat tightened. She had spent so many years feeling powerless, and now, sitting across from this formidable man, she felt the first flicker of hope. But fear didn't vanish easily.

Later, as she explored the house, she discovered locks on certain doors, cameras in the hallways, and security systems that made her dizzy. Arnav noticed her glance and explained, "I've taken precautions. Your mother and stepfather are dangerous. I won't let them reach you."

Her heart sank. Even away from home, the shadow of her past followed her. But she also felt something strange—a sense of safety she had never known.

As night fell, Arnav found her sitting alone on the balcony. "You've been through a lot," he said softly, sitting beside her. "It's okay to be scared. But I'll stay. I'll protect you, always."

Ariya turned to him, her eyes wide. "Why… why are you doing this for me?"

Arnav's gaze softened, almost imperceptibly. "Because no one should live in fear, Ariya. And because someone has to stand in the shadows… so you can step into the light."

For the first time in years, Ariya allowed herself a small, hopeful smile. The fear of her past hadn't vanished, but for the first time, she felt that she might survive it—and maybe even find something more than just safety in the man beside her.
