Chapter 3 - 3: I'm not desperate for you

I didn't even know how I fell asleep yesterday but it happened.

I looked for pip and found her still sleeping.

Then as if on cue,the Lady from yesterday came in.

Was it Carol? Cranel?

"Your things were moved to the room prepared for you, My Lady"

"Now we have to prepare you for your meeting with the Medics"

"What medics? And who's we"

My question was immediately answered as she clapped her hands and some ladies rushed inside giggling as they swept me off the ground.

All my protests died in my throat as they pulled me along to God knows where.

After so many procedures that felt like forever I was standing in front of a full length mirror, they'd scrubbed my skin like I hadn't taken a bath in a lifetime and massaged some ointment I knew nothing about on my skin.

It was annoyingly refreshing, now I just stood here staring at the black lacy maiden dress that had flowers embroided with red thread at the corset part of the dress.

It was pretty, but it made me look like some Gothic princess which was annoying and the corset was too tight, revealing an unnecessary amount of cleavage.

I didn't ask for this,I groaned, trying to learn a new breathing technique because that's the only way I could survive this dress.

"He specially picked your dresses"

The Lady said delightfully like if she was forced to wear one of this, she wouldn't hang herself.

Leaving the mirror,I made sure Pip was okay in her new spot.

The room was much bigger and better than that dusty place I was in yesterday.

This one had a very large bed, lots of space for my things and even a tea table by the window side, the view from there was nice and Clarette fit just perfectly by the window.

I stifled the smile forming on my lips when I remembered the main problem

Malakor Smithfield

The man I feared my entire life and met yesterday.

Thinking about yesterday's incident had me scoffing,I don't even want to remember that night.

He made a fool of me.

I mean he didn't tell me he was Malakor exactly and he didn't say he wasn't either which was the problem.

Besides what business did the High and mighty vampire Lord have in the kitchen.

It's really confusing,or maybe he wants me to be confused.

I grabbed a pillow and screamed into it.

Being an overthinker isn't really a healthy trait. It was frustrating

He's even more scarier than I thought.

The rumors about him being 'the manipulator' was so real.

Especially with that face of his, who wouldn't fall for his tricks, till he smears his fangs in your throat and you feel your life seeping away from you and the pain brings you back to the reality he took you far from.

Those bright green eyes,those dark curls,that jawline….

"Oh my God I need to get a hold of myself!"

I groaned and Pip meowed.

I rushed over to her

"Girl he's already trying to mess with my head"I sniffed dramatically while I scratched her back and she leaned into my touch.

"Well he's forgetting I'm not some weak human he can just take a sip from like a juice box"

"He's forgetting I am Adele, daughter of Lady Olenna the High priestess of Aethegard…."

Nodding my head in encouragement I kissed Pip goodbye as I left the room.

The place empty as I remember,I kept walking down the stairs silently praying for someone to come to my aid.

Until I bumped into someone,I stumbled back.

"I'm so sorry–"

The words caught in my throat as I looked at the Lady in front of me.

She just stared at me with a bored expression, she shared similar features with Malakor but the eye color was different, she looked like some evil seductress.

"He's in the study, third door by your right on the fifth floor"she said and left.

"Wow…. that was easy" I whispered.

How did she know I was looking for him

Deciding to worry about that later,I followed her directions and stopped in front of a mahogany door, hearing voices from inside.

I thought about knocking but changed my mind.

I want to make a dramatic entrance.

So I clutched the knob, twisted and stepped in.

The study was rather Large, with red sofas and a few seats,my eyes first caught his green ones as I held them and moved closer to where he sat behind a table.

Ignoring the stares of the people in the room as they grew quiet, all eyes on me.

I took the seat directly opposite him and sat making myself comfortable,my eyes still locked with his.

And he still haven't wiped that smirk off his face.

He thinks this is funny?

"Get out" he groaned and they all left the study in the flash of a second.

Because they are vampires?

"You looked better dressed as a valet yesterday"

I decided to start by being spiteful because that's what I'll need to survive this.

"And you looked better in your silk robe too"he said his smirk growing wider.

Now he said it I just remembered I was wearing that robe right in front of him.

Gods

I just groaned internally and shot him a glare.

"I'm busy Adele"he said going through some papers on the desk.

"Aren't we supposed to discuss the…details of this arrangement"

I snapped.

He just hummed and continued like I wasn't even sitting there.

Is he serious right now?

Drag me to some Castle in a strange place and decides not to answer me because he's busy?

"If I had known you'll be this desperate for me I wouldn't have had breakfast this morning"he finally says

"I'm not…. I'm not desperate for you!"

He hummed again, that stupid sound, but coming from his lips they sound—

Snap out of it!

"I mean it!...I do not want your stupid fangs in my neck"

"Then why are you still seated here?"

Not once did he spare me a glace.

I huffed dramatically, arranging my stupid curly hair from my face for the uptempth time.

Don't get me wrong,I love my hair, it's ginger and long and curly but it keeps getting to my face,no matter how hard I try to get it in a bun,the slippery nature doesn't let it stay for long and I can't hold it too tight because it's discomforting.

I stood up and walked away because clearly he has no interest in talking to me.

And I should leave before I provoke him to sink his fangs in my neck.

I made sure to leave the door open while I left the study.

I heard him murmur a few curses and a small smile tugged my lips.

Adele 1- Malakor 0

"Lady Adele…we've been searching for you"

The maid rushed over to me.

"The medics are waiting for you"

I rolled my eyes and followed her.

It was the most torturous two hours of my life, being poked with needles, being asked weird questions,it was frustrating.

Suddenly, they started whispering to each other and I knew something was wrong.

Panic filled me before I could process anything.

Did they find something in my system?

Am I not even worth being food to a vampire?

I watched as the Head Healer recoiled from the diagnostic stone, his breath hitching in a way that made the room go deathly silent.

He didn't offer a diagnosis; he simply stared at the monitor with a look of raw, unadulterated terror as he turned towards me.
