Stephanie's point of view
Alexander didn't turn around. His back remained rigid, his knuckles stark white as he gripped the edge of the dining table so hard the wood groaned, struggling to keep his volcanic rage contained.
Cedric pulled me toward him, guiding my unsteady steps out of the grand dining hall. My legs trembled beneath me as he led me up the sweeping staircase and down the long corridor toward his private wing.
He pushed open the heavy double doors to his bedroom, guided me inside, and kicked the door shut behind us with his heel.
The moment the lock clicked, I turned to face him only to find him already closing the distance between us with unmasked hunger.
Before I could take a breath, he backed me against the solid wood of the door. His large hands slammed onto the frame on either side of my head, trapping me.
He leaned in, pressing his forehead directly against mine, his hot, ragged breaths fanning across my lips.
