Chapter 35
Stephanie's Point of View
"Yes, it was me... it was always me, Steph," he said with a tone full of reproach and suppressed pain. "I was only gone for two months, only to find you afterward in my brother's house... and pregnant by him."
I felt a stab in my heart from his words. Trying to grasp that gap in time, I asked, "Were you not watching me during these last two months?"
He averted his gaze for a second. "I had a private circumstance," he said in a low voice.
I knit my brows curiously. "What was it?"
"I don't want to talk about it," he replied coldly, returning his gaze to me.
"As you wish," I said helplessly.
A charged silence enveloped the secluded forest before he whispered words that shook my entire being: "I still love you, Stephanie."
