Chapter 42 - Goddess and demon lord deal

You sat up in the large, luxurious bed as morning light filtered through the elegant curtains of the Starlit Haven inn. Mira was already awake, naked and curled warmly against your chest, her silver tail draped lazily over your thigh. She nuzzled closer, placing a soft kiss on your shoulder.

"Shall I call the others, my lord?" she whispered, voice still husky from last night.

You nodded. "Let's have breakfast together and talk."

Mira slipped out of bed, dressed herself with a graceful swirl of moonlight magic, and gently knocked on the connecting door. A few moments later, Lukas and Liora joined you in the shared sitting area.

The inn staff had already prepared a lavish breakfast spread on the table: fresh bread, roasted meats, exotic fruits, eggs, cheeses, and fine herbal tea. The four of you sat down together.

Lukas looked much more relaxed than yesterday, his cosmic crown faintly visible only to divine eyes. Liora sat close to him, still shy but clearly devoted, wearing one of the beautiful outfits from her storage ring. Mira stayed right beside you, occasionally brushing her leg against yours under the table.

As you all ate, you spoke calmly:

"We're together now. The King knows we won't bow. The heroes are terrified. Rumors are everywhere. What do we do next? Stay in the capital for a while? Deal with any threats quietly? Or move on?"

Lukas took a sip of tea and smiled faintly. "Big brother… honestly, I just want a few more quiet days like this. No more bullying, no more being looked down on. Maybe explore the city a bit more with Liora. But I'll follow whatever you decide."

Liora nodded shyly. "I… I will go wherever Cosmic Lord Lukas wishes. I am happy just to be free and safe with all of you."

Mira leaned against your shoulder, tail curling affectionately. "I go where you go, my lord. If the Goddess tries something foolish, I will cut her down myself."

The conversation flowed easily — light, comfortable, and full of quiet strength.

Meanwhile, in the Divine Realm:

The Goddess stood alone in a shadowed corner of the celestial hall, her golden eyes burning with cold fury. The other gods had tried to stop her, but she had ignored every warning.

She raised her hand and tore open a rift to the Abyssal Plane.

A towering figure emerged — the Demon Lord, a massive horned being wreathed in black flames and demonic energy, his red eyes gleaming with cruel amusement.

"You dare summon me, Goddess?" he rumbled. "What could possibly make you lower yourself to deal with me?"

The Goddess's voice was ice-cold and filled with hatred.

"I have a task for you. There is a mortal called Grim — the one who stole genie powers — and his brother, the so-called Cosmic Lord Lukas. They humiliated my blessed heroes and refuse to kneel before anyone. I want them dead. Kill Grim, his brother, the fox girl, and the silver-haired slave. Wipe out his entire 'family.' Do this, and I will grant you a permanent foothold in the mortal realm — a large territory free from divine interference."

The Demon Lord laughed, a deep, rumbling sound that shook the clouds.

"A genie-powered mortal and a Cosmic Lord? Interesting… Very well. I accept your deal, Goddess. I will send my strongest forces. They will die screaming."

The rift closed. The Goddess stood alone once more, a cruel smile curling on her lips.

"Watch me," she whispered to the empty hall. "I will destroy them all."

Back in the inn's sitting room, the four of you were still enjoying breakfast. Mira suddenly tilted her head, fox ears twitching.

"My lord… I feel something dark stirring far away. Divine energy mixed with something much fouler — demonic. It feels like the Goddess is moving."

Lukas frowned slightly, shadows flickering at his fingertips. Liora looked nervous but stayed close to him.

The morning was still peaceful in your rooms, but trouble was clearly brewing in the background.
