Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Contract

The next morning, Gina Blake walked into the towering glass building of Knight Holdings. Her palms sweated, but she held her chin high. She didn't need a handout—but desperate times had a way of forcing compromises.

The lobby gleamed with marble floors and golden accents. Every step she took reminded her how far removed this world was from her tiny apartment back home.

A receptionist barely glanced up. "Mr. Knight is expecting you," she said, pointing toward the elevator.

Gina nodded and stepped inside, heart racing. The elevator ride felt like it lasted forever. Every floor she passed reminded her of the world Alexander Knight ruled. And soon, she would be under his control—even if only temporarily.

When the elevator doors opened, she saw him. Alexander Knight, sitting behind a massive mahogany desk, reviewing papers as though the weight of the world rested solely on his shoulders.

"Sit," he said without looking up.

Gina obeyed, though she felt like a lamb walking into a lion's den.

"I assume you read the terms," he said, finally glancing at her. His gaze was sharp, piercing. "If you sign, your financial problems are over… for a price."

Her stomach tightened. "What price?"

He leaned back, eyes never leaving hers. "You work for me. Completely. You obey my rules. You don't question me. And… you belong to me."

Gina froze. Belong to him?

She wanted to run. But her wallet… her future… whispered, yes.

Alexander slid a sleek contract across the desk. "Everything is written clearly. No surprises. You sign, you follow the rules. Refuse, and… well, I can't help you."

Her fingers hovered over the paper. One signature would change her life forever. One signature would tie her to a man who was cold, controlling… dangerously magnetic.

Her heartbeat thundered as she finally took the pen. "I… I'll do it."

Alexander's lips curved into a faint smirk, just enough to be terrifying. "Good. That wasn't so hard, was it?"

Gina swallowed. "I… I need to know the rules first."

"Of course," he said, his voice low and deliberate. "Rule one: your personal life is mine to manage while you're under contract. Rule two: no defiance, no excuses. Rule three…" He leaned in, and the heat radiating from him made her shiver. "…I decide how close we get. Do you understand?"

Gina nodded, though her mind was spinning.

"Yes, Mr. Knight," she said, her voice steady even as her heart raced uncontrollably.

Alexander watched her for a long moment. "Good," he said finally. "Now, welcome to my world, Gina Blake."

She left the office with the contract in hand, heart pounding, and a strange mixture of fear and excitement swirling inside her. She didn't yet understand what she had agreed to—or how completely Alexander Knight would consume her life.

And from across the city, Alexander watched her leave, dark eyes glittering with obsession. She won't escape me, he thought. Not now. Not ever.
