Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 6: NO SIGNAL

No one wanted to move.

Not at first.

Everyone stayed close to the plane.

Like it was the only safe thing left.

Ethan stood still, arms folded, eyes scanning the darkness ahead.

Nothing.

Still nothing.

"…We can't just stand here forever," a man said.

His voice cut through the silence.

People turned.

He looked mid-40s.

Tall.

Confident.

Trying to stay in control.

"There has to be a terminal," he continued.

"An airport this size can't just be… empty."

Murmurs spread.

He wasn't wrong.

But—

It didn't feel wrong enough.

It felt worse.

Daniel leaned closer to Ethan.

"I don't like this guy," he whispered.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"He's just trying to make sense of it."

"Yeah," Daniel said.

"But he sounds too sure."

The man stepped forward.

"I'm not staying here," he said.

"I'm going to find help."

A few people hesitated.

Then followed.

Because doing something—

Was better than standing still.

Ethan watched them.

Thinking.

Then—

"…We should go too," he said.

Daniel blinked.

"Seriously?"

"You want to stay here?"

Daniel looked at the plane.

Then at the darkness.

"…No."

They joined the group.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Leaving the plane behind.

✈️ The Walk

The runway stretched endlessly ahead.

Each step echoed slightly.

Too clearly.

Like the ground was hollow.

Ethan frowned.

"…Do you hear that?"

Daniel nodded.

"Yeah."

"Why does it sound like that?"

No answer.

The group walked in silence.

No wind.

No noise.

No life.

Just footsteps.

And breathing.

Minutes passed.

Or maybe longer.

Time felt… strange.

Ethan checked his phone.

Still dead.

No signal.

But—

The time hadn't changed.

Still the same.

"11:58 PM."

He frowned.

"…That's not possible."

"What?" Daniel asked.

Ethan showed him the screen.

"It hasn't moved."

Daniel stared.

"…Maybe it froze?"

"Maybe."

But Ethan didn't believe it.

They kept walking.

The man in front slowed down.

"…Wait," he said.

The group stopped.

"What is it?" someone asked.

He pointed ahead.

"…Look."

Ethan stepped forward slightly.

And saw it.

Lights.

Faint.

But real.

"…Finally," someone whispered.

Relief spread quickly.

Too quickly.

"There!" the man said.

"I told you—there's something here."

People started walking faster now.

Hope returning.

Ethan didn't move.

"…Something's wrong," he said quietly.

Daniel frowned.

"What?"

Ethan pointed.

"…Those lights."

"They're not getting closer."

Daniel froze.

"…What?"

Ethan narrowed his eyes.

They had been walking for minutes.

Maybe longer.

But the lights—

They looked exactly the same distance away.

Not closer.

Not bigger.

Not clearer.

"…That's not possible," Daniel said.

"I know."

A chill ran through Ethan's body.

"Keep moving!" the man ahead shouted.

The group obeyed.

Because no one wanted to think about it.

They walked faster.

Then faster.

But the lights didn't change.

Not even a little.

"…Stop," Ethan said suddenly.

No one listened.

"STOP!" he shouted louder.

The group froze.

"What now?" someone snapped.

Ethan pointed ahead.

"…We've been walking for at least ten minutes."

"…Why aren't we any closer?"

Silence.

People looked ahead.

Then at each other.

Realization spread slowly.

"…No," the man said.

"That's not possible."

"Then explain it," Ethan replied.

The man didn't answer.

Because he couldn't.

✈️ Something Is Wrong

The air felt colder now.

Heavier.

Daniel stepped back slightly.

"…I don't like this."

"Neither do I," Ethan said.

A woman turned around.

"…Where's the plane?"

Everyone froze.

Slowly—

They turned.

And looked behind them.

Nothing.

No plane.

No lights.

No runway.

Just darkness.

"…No," Daniel whispered.

"…No, no, no—"

"That's not possible," someone said.

"We just came from there!"

Panic exploded again.

"WHERE IS IT?!"

"WE WERE JUST THERE!"

Ethan's heart pounded violently.

He turned back.

The lights were still ahead.

Same distance.

Unchanged.

And now—

They had nowhere to go back to.

"…This doesn't make sense," Daniel said, voice shaking.

"No," Ethan said quietly.

"It doesn't."

✈️ The Breaking Point

A man started running forward.

"I'm not staying here!"

"Wait!" someone shouted.

He didn't stop.

He ran toward the lights.

Faster.

Desperate.

The group watched.

Waiting.

Hoping.

He kept running.

And running.

And running—

But he never got closer.

The lights stayed the same.

Unmoving.

Unreachable.

"…Oh my God," someone whispered.

The man slowed.

Then stopped.

He turned around.

His face was pale.

Terrified.

"…I didn't move," he said.

"I was running… but I didn't get any closer."

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Crushing.

Ethan clenched his fists.

This wasn't normal.

This wasn't real.

"…We need to go back," Daniel said.

Ethan nodded.

"…Yeah."

But when they turned—

There was nothing behind them.

No direction.

No path.

Just darkness.

Endless.

"…We're trapped," someone whispered.

And this time—

No one argued.

Because deep down—

Everyone knew—

It was true.
