Chapter 153 - Tick-Tick-Tick

""This is because we chose to become Disaster class." Said Acxiquark, the dragon of purpose element power, to Arulli.

"I know about that, it is what has made all of you such beasts in battle, the same reason that you have held on against the darkness for so long. But I need you to explain two things, what do you mean 'seven of you', there are over millions of dragons in the skies! Second, why does being a disaster change anything?"

Sighing, or what it would look like for a dragon to sigh, Acxiquark spoke "This had to come out sooner or later. The truth is that there are only seven dragons. Our tremendous strength destroys anything and everything around us if we were to assume our true forms. In our true states, the earth would cease to be. So, we roam its skies as millions of dragons, using a skill that splits us into millions of dragons."

Arulli took a step back, taking in the whole size of the mountainous dragon and gasped, "You telling me this is nothing but a fragment of your sheer size?"

"Yes, we chose not to reveal this in hopes of using it against the darkness one day.

"I do say, if you did stretch you whole size you would rival the earth in size. That explains why all dragons of the same type/colour never argue, because you all are the same dragon. I'm betting your children, the dragon kin, don't know any of this. Never mind though, just continue, what about the second thing?"

"The tremendous strength of which we got, we had gotten in a foolish pursuit of power. When we were but mere lizards with wings and an oversized body, we learned of the power granted by becoming a disaster. We knew what we were getting into, but desperate to establish ourselves, we did it anyway.

It came to us from a strange human with a modest beard. He spoke to us fluent in dragon, strange considering that we hadn't taught any human the tongue. He was strong, way stronger than we thought. We almost confused him for a destroyer, and fought him, of which he promptly beat all seven of us.

Instead of killing us, he looked down and told us that he knew of a way to make us stronger, but we would have to sacrifice our ability to ever level up again. We would eternally remain on the same level for our entire lives.

One became a disaster by becoming one with their power and sacrificing their ability to level. Once we got the strength, instantly felt by our homogenous size, we all learned the skill [Split], which allowed us to have multiple bodies in order to disperse the true extent for our strength. Only then did we even begin having children.

But it remained, there was only seven dragons, the rest just clones, copies, pale imitations, or just half breeds who could assume the full form of a dragon."

"So, just like that, you all surrendered you ability to become stronger, but this strength you speak of is nothing!"

The dragon's eyes glowed with a passion that was only seen in Red Scorch. I was not there, just watching through his memories, but even I could feel the voice that came forth from its single intent gaze at Arulli revibrate throughout my body.

"Trust me legendary hero, once you can create a bigger stage for all of us to fight, we will show you the true extent of the power of a disaster, and only then will you understand our true might. But as it stands now, opening that portal is the best our strength could accomplish. So, trust us, once you set the stage for us, we will surely not disappoint."

Arulli left, still frustrated. He was angry because Fev had the power over fire(increase), over light (purity), and over existence as her third power, Rev had learned the power over water/ice(decrease), over darkness(corruption), and over life as his third. Even with the both of them using their powers, Arulli was still one element power short, purpose.

Right then he was refusing Acxiquark's statements because he didn't have the time in him to delay his plans any longer. But if what Acxiquark had said was true, then the only time its full potential could be useful would be after Arulli's plan was done and over, and he needed it now.

"Rev, Fev, you're coming with me."

Still as inquisitive, Fev asked. "Back to the Realms?"

Both of them had also crossed level 400, Fev at level 439, Rev at level 442.

"Yes." He answered without a hint of care.

Rev had learned to also ask questions like his sister. "But we explored all that the divine spirit guardian would let us, and we found nothing more that we could for us to use to train, there is nothing in there left for us."

Arulli was getting desperate, and even they knew it. The darkness had begun to fight back during the Last war; the people were more empowered because of him. Everything was also falling apart because unofficially, we were losing.

Sure, this was nothing new, but it seems the darkness had decided we were not worth it anymore and begun taking every fight seriously. If not For Arulli creating a temporary dome beneath the earth to hold it up, nothing would have been left.

But this time it was even worse than that, because, for the first time since legendary hero Ouran, the darkness had increased, more and more darkness was surging in every night. The way Arulli put it, all of them liked the taste of a soul that was stronger, even fighting each other to get to him when he fought them during the night.

He had pushed for the war more than everyone, but now he was under a timer that wouldn't stop ticking no matter how much he beat it, no matter how many times he crushed it, it just rang in his ears. Tick-tick-tick…

His plan had to work; the earth had no other option. Just as with the appearance of every legendary hero, the darkness increased it's efforts, and quite frankly, because Arulli had become such a menace, their push this time was going to push and blow everything to smithereens if it meant they could get their hands on his soul.

Arulli also knew that divine spirit guardian would not budge and would not let them pass his border. He had no intention of stopping any of his plans. I expected him to say as much as I watched him take the twins and entre the Realms never to be seen again, until that final day.

"Then we'll have to move him out of our way now, don't we!" Arulli said to the twins as their silhouettes blurred behind the fuzzy shimmer of the gate.

As it turns out, our power, whilst we were still at a level below 400, it used to have a range, and Arulli went in so far beyond it that I could not tell you what he did. The next time we saw him was on that day.

Before then, we had to trust him and do what he had asked of us. Arulli had at least taught us how to break the third seal, and how to go from level 399 to 400. But what he had failed to teach before he died was how to break the forth and reach the final level.

Our mission in the meantime was to prepare to clean the memories of all the people. We had learned that thoughts of deep darkness led to madness, and Lerva and Arulli's solution was to wipe the people's memories.

This plan came from Lerva because around the time we left for the Realms the first time, the sword started making those who touched it vanish. She thought it would just be better off if the people just forgot it existed, and Arulli thought, what if they thought none of all of it hadn't existed, all the loss and suffering removed

At first, it felt off, but in stance of the recent events of this time, it was a solution to a problem we needed gone. We felt that to stop the spread of monsters, we would have to remove all memories of the earth. A fresh start, in which all can have a clean slate, and create an even stronger march against the darkness.

In preparation of the day we knew was coming, we also took a bit of the land of the ground, the land of which you saved us on. This exact one here, is the exact last place you were, the very last piece of the earth left, and Jixon helped make it what it is. Some of Arulli's apprentices helped carve some patterns to make it movable.

After the planet was made, Jixon was the one who made that dimensional door you used to get in here. Not just this, but just as Arulli had intended, her power got used in all forms of security before she too passed.

The fact that he had made it out of range meant that Arulli truly had become a menace to the universe, because getting out of range meant that him, along with the twins, managed to kill an overpowered divine spirit angel guardian permanently. It had not come without a cost because Fev had died from that battle, a loss he had not counted on.

I'm sure he must have been devastated, only made sane when she became a ghost. I could see it now, Arulli watching her die, and hoping that she came back, and cursing himself for wishing her away from the peace of the afterlife and cursing himself to be happy to see she stayed.

I found out she had passed because when they neared the portal, I could once again see their memories. They all seemed so different, so distant. I know not of what they had faced on their journeys deep into the Realms.

Arulli had broken through the forth seal, so did the FeveR twins. I noticed Fev had died and become a ghost like Jixon, but Jixon had used her power to escape the Realms. I knew this had been at the hands of one of their fights, but what I did not expect was what came of it, the good thing that came from her death.

When she died, Fev was grappling with the state of her existence, trying to figure out what was even the point of living anymore, when she stumbled upon the meaning and purpose behind everything in existence from her teachings from Acxiquark. I knew she had a forth power because of one thing, looking at her through the eyes of Arulli, I could sense the same ambiguous meanings I felt hidden in Acxiquark's scales.

Something I did not understand were their sullen faces. Arulli had achieved what he had set out to achieve, now, between the twins, he had access to all seven elements of reality in power form not skill or essence, he seemed to have also learned a third power himself, and broken the forth seal, still they looked so ill, why? I asked myself.

I never had the chance to talk to them or to learn about their journeys or how they broke through the forth seal, but what I did gleam was one particular fact, something happened in there to change all three of them, I could not recognise the contents of their souls or collect their previous memories, as if they were completely foreign beings.

That clock again sounded, ticking continuously on repeat. It was all we could do to ignore it. The earth had but a few hours left, because it was early dusk. One more battle and this place was going to collapse, and everything would end right then and there. Arulli spoke to himself, knowing I could see and hear his memories again, which meant he was talking to me.

"We have gone on many a journeys in the Realms, travelling its boundless reaches. I even passed the gates of heaven and hell. And there exists another being the one who created all of it, the one who created both the Realms and the world of the Living, they call this being the Beginning and End. And we are but the ones who got stuck on the first battle grounds against its fight against the one of the VOID!""
