Chapter 8 - Fractured Bloodlines

Nursery shadows danced under nightlights shaped like Lake Toba boats, Tano's sobs piercing the fortified penthouse hush. Ayla rocked him, tiny body trembling against her, his innocent trust a knife twist amid Nadia's venomous revelations. Damian paced, phone glued to ear—lawyers scrambling, stocks plunging 15% in after-hours hell. Clan envoy waited in lobby, ulos pristine, truce papers pristine poison.

Ayla's call connected—Mom's voice frail over crackly line from hospital room. "Nak? What's wrong?"

"Toba. Lina. My *aunt*? You sold me out!" Ayla hissed, tears scalding.

Silence stretched eternal. Then: "God forgive... Sari was sister—half, from Papa's indiscretion. Clan feud killed her man, shamed us. I hid you from it—accident at Toba docks, head injury wiped memories. Lina begged help years later: protect Tano from Damian's world. I... nudged your path."

"Nudged? Contract? Debts bait?" Rage choked.

"Survival, Ayla. Damian's darkness—clan wars, lost loves. But love him now? Fight."

Click. Line dead. Ayla crumpled, Tano patting her cheek. "Sad? Play trucks?"

Damian knelt, eyes storm-dark. "Truth?"

"Mom confirmed—family ties twisted. But no plot. Survival lies."

He pulled her up, Tano between, family huddle. "Ours now. Truce? No."

Lobby feed: envoy with Paman Tua, Nadia lurking shadows. Damian stormed down, Ayla trailing, Tano guarded.

"Terms rejected," Damian declared. "Tano stays. Empire mine."

Paman sneered. "Blood calls. Divorce or razed."

Nadia emerged, venomous. "Ayla's blood damns you. USB full: her wiring your rivals."

Damian laughed cold. "Hacked back—your offshore accounts frozen. FBI en route."

Nadia paled. "Bluff!"

Cops raided—international warrant. She spat: "Clan razes Medan first!"

Gone again. Relief short—explosion rocked tower base. Screens: Arkan warehouse aflame, Deli-side inferno. Sabotage.

Damian clutched Ayla. "War total."

Night deepened; they bunkered, Tano asleep. Passion ignited—bodies entwining fierce, wounds be damned. "Love you," he breathed post-climax. "Real."
