Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: An Unexpected Conversation

The classroom felt unusually quiet that morning.

Not because of discipline.

But because something had changed.

Aaryan Raizada was no longer just a name people whispered about—

he had become someone everyone noticed.

And today…

That attention hadn't faded.

As Aaryan walked in, a few eyes immediately turned toward him.

Some curious.

Some impressed.

Some… trying to understand.

He ignored all of it like always and took his seat.

Calm. Composed.

Unreachable.

"Famous already."

Tara dropped into the seat beside him, resting her chin on her hand.

Aaryan didn't look at her. "You're exaggerating."

"Am I?" she smirked. "Half the class is talking about you."

"That says more about them than me."

Tara blinked.

"…You really don't care, do you?"

Aaryan finally looked at her.

"Should I?"

Tara held his gaze for a second.

Then smiled slightly.

"Maybe not."

From across the room—

Siya watched that exchange.

Briefly.

Casually.

But something about it felt… different today.

Yesterday's test.

The way he answered.

The way he didn't react after that.

She tapped her pen lightly on the desk.

"…He acts like it's nothing."

Her eyes shifted again.

Tara was still talking to him.

And he was actually responding.

Not much.

But enough.

She looked away.

"…Weird."

Midway through the class—

"Siya."

The teacher's voice broke her thoughts.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Explain the answer to question three."

Siya stood up confidently.

She knew this.

Her explanation was clear, structured, and precise.

As she finished, the teacher nodded.

"Good."

Siya sat down.

Calm as always.

"Anyone else has a different approach?" the teacher asked.

Silence.

A few students avoided eye contact.

Then—

"Aaryan?"

The entire class turned.

Tara looked at him immediately. "Of course…"

Aaryan sighed softly and stood up.

He hadn't raised his hand.

But he didn't refuse either.

He glanced at the board.

Then spoke.

"Her answer is correct," he said calmly.

Siya's expression didn't change.

But her attention shifted.

"But there's a simpler way to look at it."

That caught interest.

Aaryan walked toward the board.

Picked up the marker.

And in a few smooth steps—

He rewrote the entire solution.

Shorter.

Cleaner.

More efficient.

Silence.

Complete silence.

"…That's actually better," someone whispered.

Rhea leaned forward slightly.

Tara's eyes widened.

Kiara watched with quiet interest.

Siya didn't move.

But her eyes were fixed on the board.

On his method.

On how easily he did it.

Aaryan placed the marker back and turned.

"That's it."

No pride.

No explanation.

Just calm.

The teacher smiled faintly.

"Very good."

As Aaryan walked back to his seat—

For a brief moment—

His eyes met Siya's.

Just for a second.

Neither of them said anything.

But something… shifted.

Slightly.

After class—

The corridor buzzed again.

"That was smooth…"

"He made it look so easy…"

Aaryan walked through it all without reacting.

Until—

"Wait."

A voice stopped him.

He turned.

Siya Kapoor stood there.

For the first time—

She approached him.

There was a brief pause.

As if even she hadn't expected herself to do that.

"You didn't need to do that," she said calmly.

Aaryan looked at her.

"Do what?"

"Change the answer."

Her tone wasn't rude.

But it wasn't friendly either.

Just… direct.

Aaryan held her gaze.

"I didn't change it."

"I improved it."

Siya's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Mine was already correct."

"I said that."

"Then why?"

Aaryan paused for a second.

Then replied calmly—

"Because it could be better."

A brief silence.

Siya didn't respond immediately.

She wasn't used to this.

People either agreed with her.

Or avoided challenging her.

But this—

This was different.

"You think your way is always better?" she asked.

Aaryan's expression didn't change.

"No."

"Just when it is."

That answer—

Caught her off guard.

For a moment—

Neither of them spoke.

Then Siya looked away slightly.

"…You're confident."

Aaryan replied instantly—

"You're not used to that?"

She looked back at him.

This time—directly.

There was something in her expression.

Not anger.

Not irritation.

Something else.

"…You're different," she said.

Aaryan didn't deny it.

Didn't accept it.

He simply said—

"So are you."

Another pause.

Then—

Without another word—

Siya turned and walked away.

Aaryan watched her go for a second.

Then turned in the opposite direction.

From a distance—

Tara and Rhea had seen everything.

"Oho…" Tara whispered. "That was interesting."

Rhea smirked slightly.

"Very."

Even Kiara, standing nearby, had noticed.

Her expression remained calm.

But her eyes held a hint of curiosity.

As for Siya—

She walked down the corridor like nothing had happened.

Same calm expression.

Same composed steps.

But her mind wasn't as quiet.

"…He talks differently."

That thought stayed.

Longer than expected.

And for the first time—

A simple conversation…

Didn't feel so simple.
