Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 – Alexander’s Dark Past

Amara stayed in the secret room long after Alexander left, her hands trembling as she reviewed the files.

Victor's movements, the staff lists, and the detailed schedules—they weren't just random. Everything pointed to one chilling truth: someone close to Alexander had been planning against him for years.

Suddenly, a photograph slipped from the edge of a folder. Amara picked it up. It was Alexander… but not as she knew him.

Younger, sharper, and standing next to a man whose face was covered in shadows. The photo was dated ten years ago, with a scrawled note on the corner: "Trust no one."

Her mind raced. Alexander had secrets. Dangerous ones. Secrets that explained why people wanted him dead.

Before she could think further, the door creaked. Amara spun around—Claire had entered.

"What are you doing here?" Amara whispered, trying to hide the photo.

Claire's lips twisted in a cold smile. "Exploring? Or snooping?"

Amara's stomach tightened. "I… I didn't hear you come in."

Claire's eyes glimmered with malicious intent. "You really think you belong here? This mansion has rules… rules you don't even understand yet. And if you're not careful…"

She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "…you'll end up just like the others. Forgotten, ruined… maybe even dead."

Amara's hands shook. "Why are you doing this?"

Claire laughed softly, a sound that sent chills down her spine. "Because, my dear, Alexander Knight never forgets… and he never forgives. Every woman who has crossed him—or threatened his empire—has paid the price. You're next if you can't play the game."

Amara realized something terrifying. Claire wasn't just jealous. She knew the mansion, its secrets, and Alexander's weaknesses. And she was willing to use every trick to destroy Amara.

Claire's eyes flicked toward the files on the desk. "Interesting, isn't it? So many secrets… so many lies."

Amara swallowed hard. "You… you don't know what you're messing with."

Claire's smile widened. "Oh, I know exactly what I'm doing. And you… you're about to learn how ruthless this world can be."

With that, Claire turned and left, her heels clicking ominously down the hallway.

Amara sank into a chair, clutching the photograph. Her pulse raced. Alexander had enemies from his past… and now, those enemies were using Claire to strike at him—and at her.

She realized that surviving wasn't just about avoiding attacks. She needed to understand Alexander's past, uncover the hidden alliances, and prepare for the first real betrayal inside the mansion.

Outside, the wind howled against the mansion walls. Inside, the shadows seemed to whisper: the game had only just begun.
