Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10-WHISPERS IN THE NIGHT

The Future Tech Academy slept beneath a quiet sky. Only a few lab windows glowed softly, reflecting the silver light of the moon. The storm that had threatened all evening never came — only a cool breeze, carrying the smell of wet soil and silence.Inside the courtyard, Steve Joseph (Salt) sat on a bench, head resting against the backrest, exhausted yet restless. The success of the T-74 hybrid cell had stirred something more than ambition in him — it had awakened a feeling he didn't quite understand. The sound of soft footsteps made him glance up. Stacy Rivera walked toward him, her white lab coat swaying slightly in the breeze.

"You're still awake?" she asked, her voice warm but tired.

"Couldn't sleep," Steve replied. "Too many numbers in my head."

"Or too many thoughts," she teased gently, sitting beside him.

For a moment, neither spoke. The academy lights flickered in the distance; somewhere, an automated cleaner whirred past.

"You know," Stacy began softly, "when I first saw you in the lab, I thought you were arrogant."

Steve chuckled. "That's fair."

"Then I realized," she continued, "you're just passionate… maybe too much."

He turned to face her, the moonlight reflecting in his eyes.

"You make it sound like a bad thing."

"Not bad," she whispered. "Just rare."

The silence between them felt heavier than words. Then, with quiet courage, Steve said,

"I used to believe science was the only thing that could make my heart race. Until I met you."

Stacy blinked, her breath catching.

 "Steve…"

"You don't have to say anything," he said quickly. "I just wanted you to know. Whatever happens, whatever we build next—I want you beside me."

A soft smile curved her lips.

"Then I guess we'll build the future together."

From the second-floor balcony, Allen (Sugar) watched quietly with a knowing grin. Behind him, Lily Evans muttered,

 "Finally. Took them long enough."

Far above, the sky rumbled faintly—not with thunder, but with the promise of new beginnings. The night held their secret close, as two young scientists discovered that even in a world of logic, love was its own kind of formula.
