Chapter 51 - The Council of Choice

The countless seeds drifted through the endless white horizon.

Each one held the possibility of a new universe.

Aster stood quietly, watching them glow.

"You refused absolute authority."

His voice carried no surprise.

"That is why they answered you."

Zayden looked at the floating lights.

"I don't understand."

"You will."

Aster raised his hand.

One seed floated toward them.

Inside it...

A newborn galaxy slowly took shape.

Stars ignited.

Planets formed.

Then, just as suddenly...

Everything froze.

"It won't continue," Aria whispered.

"Not until a choice is made," Aster replied.

"The old multiverse was built by a handful of beings making decisions for everyone else."

The Keeper lowered his eyes.

"And we repeated that mistake."

Aster nodded.

"Again and again."

The Null King watched the silent galaxy.

"So what changes now?"

Aster smiled.

"You."

---

The white horizon transformed.

An immense circular hall rose from the light.

Its ceiling disappeared into infinity.

Hundreds of empty chairs surrounded a single round table.

There was no throne.

No highest seat.

Only equals.

"What is this?" Captain Lyra's voice echoed as she and Elysia stepped through a doorway of silver light, summoned by Aster.

Aster answered,

"This is the Council of Choice."

"The first gathering where no one rules."

More doors opened.

From different Layers, leaders, scholars, healers, artists, and ordinary people stepped into the hall.

Not kings.

Not emperors.

People chosen because others trusted them.

Aria looked around in amazement.

"They're from different worlds..."

The Keeper smiled.

"For the first time in history."

Aster walked to the center.

"The future of existence will not belong to one Anchor."

He looked at Zayden.

"Nor to one Keeper."

Then at everyone.

"It will belong to those willing to listen."

Silence settled over the council.

Then an elderly woman from the Seventh Layer stood.

"If we disagree?"

Aster's eyes twinkled.

"You will."

Laughter spread through the hall.

Even the Null King smiled faintly.

A young boy from another Layer raised his hand.

"Does that mean adults don't know everything?"

The hall erupted into laughter.

Aster answered with perfect seriousness.

"That has been true for a very long time."

---

Hours passed.

Voices rose.

Ideas clashed.

Nothing was easy.

Yet no one reached for power.

When disagreements appeared, they searched for understanding instead.

Zayden watched quietly.

Aria leaned toward him.

"This is messy."

He smiled.

"It always was."

She looked around the hall.

People arguing.

Then laughing.

Changing their minds.

Finding new solutions together.

Finally, she whispered,

"It's beautiful."

---

As the council ended, Aster approached Zayden alone.

"You've done well."

"It wasn't just me."

"I know."

Aster looked pleased.

"That's exactly why."

He handed Zayden a small crystal sphere.

Inside it shimmered tiny stars.

"What is it?"

"The First Seed."

"It will become the first universe born under the new era."

Zayden looked at it carefully.

"It belongs to everyone."

"Yes."

"So why give it to me?"

Aster's smile became thoughtful.

"Because someone must protect it until everyone is ready."

Zayden accepted the sphere.

Its light reflected in his eyes.

Far away, unseen by anyone...

A tiny crack appeared at the edge of the endless white horizon.

A single black thread slipped through.

Aster's expression changed for the first time.

Not fear.

Concern.

He looked toward the crack.

Then quietly said,

"So..."

"It followed us."

The black thread twitched once.

And something unseen whispered from beyond the horizon:

> "Every beginning casts a shadow."

The room grew cold.

Aster closed his hand.

"It seems..."

"Our work isn't finished after all."
