Chapter 38 - Nice to Meet You, Usagui

"Did Jun put Mike's water bowl in the bag?"

"I did, love. Everything is here," he replied, closing the car door.

Kenji had lent them his car so they could go camping, since there was no way to go by motorcycle.

"Are we leaving then?"

"I'm excited," she said as she got into the car.

"Let's go, Mike, time to go for a ride," Jun said while fastening the leash to the back seat.

The drive to the chosen spot was smooth. They listened to music, talked, laughed, and stopped so Mike could go to the bathroom. When they arrived, Sayuri looked at the view and held her breath.

"Wow, Jun, this place is beautiful. Look at that view."

He hugged her from behind.

"You haven't seen anything yet. The sunset here is amazing."

"Have you been here before?"

"A long time ago. Let's set up the tent and feed this little guy."

Yume, relaxing at the studio, felt her phone vibrate. An email.

Good afternoon,

We would like to inform you that we had an unexpected change in our schedule, and because of that our representative will arrive tonight.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

"KENJIIIIII!!!!" Yume screamed while running out.

She opened the bathroom door and screamed again.

"What is it, Yume? I'm naked..."

She turned away covering her eyes.

"We have a problem."

"What problem?" he asked, turning off the shower.

"The representative is coming today!"

Kenji grabbed a towel and almost slipped out of the shower in a hurry.

"What do you mean?"

She showed him the email and Kenji ran his hand through his hair.

"Damn it, now what? Jun isn't here, he won't be back until Monday."

"Call him," Yume said.

Kenji looked at her.

"Can I get dressed first?"

Yume left embarrassed but still joked.

"Nice abs, by the way..."

"Ugh, this girl!"

They tried for hours to contact Jun or Sayuri, but nothing.

"They must be out of signal. Up there there's barely any reception."

"So now what, Kenji?"

Kenji paced back and forth, looking at the clock. A few hours left until the representative arrived.

"We'll receive them and explain everything. We didn't expect them today."

"Do you think they'll understand?"

"I hope so, Yume… I really hope so."

Jun lit the campfire and grabbed the marshmallows.

"Remember the bonfire at the cabin?"

"I remember, Jun. You were singing while looking at me. How could I forget such a unique moment…"

"I always sing 'Cherry Blossom' looking at you… it's my love declaration…"

They held hands, watching the sunset.

"Did you ever imagine we would end up like this?"

A sigh.

"Never, love… it feels like a dream."

The moment was interrupted by small barking sounds.

"Haha, come here, Mike," Sayuri called. "Jealous like his dad."

Kenji and Yume went to the train station. They were nervous.

"How are we supposed to know what this representative looks like?"

"I don't know, Yume. Maybe an old short guy in a suit."

"Haha, oh my God, very cliché, Kenji."

They looked at everyone getting off the train: tall people, short people, people with glasses, all kinds.

"Oh man, there are so many people. We should have made a sign," Yume said, looking around.

Suddenly, a woman in her twenties stepped off the train. Beautiful, slender, blonde with pink streaks. She wore a tight black dress under a beige coat and matching high heels.

"Wow," Kenji said.

"Definitely not her…"

"She could be," Kenji said with a teasing smile.

Yume hit him.

"Behave and look for the representative."

"Kenji?"

A soft voice called him.

When he turned, the blonde woman was standing right in front of him, smiling.

"Yes? Can I help you?"

She smiled and extended her hand.

"Nice to meet you. Usagui."
