Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: maple leaf gold coins

Upon seeing the mission information, Xia Xi had originally only intended to give it a try, but now she was determined to find the treasure. Once this world mission was completed, she would have saved enough Primogems for a ten-pull and could summon another character.

She carefully observed the contents of the slip of paper. It was covered in irregular patterns, including a moon and a triangle, and also had the three letters "ORO" written on it.

Xia Xi no longer remembered exactly how these patterns were decrypted; she only knew it had something to do with neon lights at night.

Seeing Xia Xi stare at the treasure map for a while, Genta became a bit impatient: "Sister Xia Xi, how is it? Do you have any leads?"

"Hmm... the person who gave you this puzzle is quite impressive. I don't have any leads right now either." Xia Xi pretended to think it was a game puzzle given to them by an adult, then offered a small hint: "However, I do know what these letters mean."

As soon as Conan heard Xia Xi's words, he couldn't sit still. His mind was filled with code puzzles, and he asked urgently: "What is it?"

"It's the Italian word for gold." Xia Xi didn't intend to keep them in suspense and gave the answer directly, smiling encouragingly: "It looks like the treasure you're looking for is gold. I'll be waiting for Genta to find the treasure and treat me to a meal."

Acting as if she didn't truly believe there was a treasure but still supported the children's actions, Xia Xi even admired her own acting skills at that moment.

Conan would have found out eventually by checking a dictionary at the library, so Xia Xi telling them ahead of time didn't change things much.

"Gold?!" Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko exclaimed excitedly, and even Conan was quite surprised.

He took the treasure map from Xia Xi's hand and looked closely at the codes, unable to help but wonder if this treasure map might actually be real.

But how was that possible? Could a random code found on the side of the road really be a treasure map?

Seeing them busy observing the map, Xia Xi prepared to take her leave: "Then you guys have fun—cough, good luck finding the treasure. I still need to find a cat, so I'll be going now."

Hearing Xia Xi's slip of the tongue just now, Conan thought, 'What the... so she doesn't actually believe there's a gold treasure either; she thinks we're just playing.'

Hearing that Xia Xi had things to do, Ayumi and the others were sensible enough not to disturb her and said their goodbyes one by one: "Okay, goodbye Sister Xia Xi."

"Goodbye." Xia Xi turned and left.

Once Conan and the others were out of sight, Paimon asked Xia Xi: "Traveler, do you know how to solve the code on the treasure map?"

'I don't know,' Xia Xi replied very righteously.

Xia Xi herself wasn't good at puzzles. When playing Genshin Impact, she basically relied on guides to solve the puzzles on the Inazuma map. Moreover, with the Conan anime having been serialized for so many years, how could Xia Xi possibly remember how to solve this early-stage code? Remembering it was related to neon lights was already a testament to her good memory.

But it didn't matter if she didn't remember; someone certainly would. Even if that person didn't remember, they would definitely be able to crack the code on the paper. Xia Xi had great confidence in him.

Xia Xi sent a message to Lisa, asking her to help find the cat first, and was teased for a few lines as usual.

Was Lisa's original personality like this when combined with her own consciousness? Xia Xi felt that Lisa seemed to enjoy teasing her quite a bit. She should try to have less contact with Lisa in the future.

Xia Xi found some paper and a pen nearby and drew the code down. Although she had only looked at it for a moment, Xia Xi noted that her memory was much better than before; she could remember some things with just a glance. This was likely a benefit brought by her Traveler body.

After drawing it, she had Paimon use the system to take a photo and send it to Alhaitham, explaining the general situation.

Yes, the person Xia Xi had just mentioned was Alhaitham.

Alhaitham was busy when he received the message, and he didn't put down his work after seeing it.

He recalled the memories in his mind—as a part of Xia Xi's consciousness, he naturally possessed the memories she had. Although they were similarly incomplete, Alhaitham deduced the approximate location of the treasure based on the memories and the code. After sending the solution to Xia Xi, Alhaitham continued with the experiment at hand; from the outside, it was impossible to tell he had just been distracted for a moment.

Xia Xi received the message from Alhaitham less than ten minutes after she had sent the code. She checked the sky; the sun hadn't completely set yet, so there was still plenty of time.

Since she already knew the approximate location of the solution, Xia Xi didn't need to follow the instructions step-by-step like Conan and the others. Instead, she prepared to head straight to the finish line.

First, she needed to find a building with a sign that read "Onizakura." After finding it and going inside, looking out from the window, she needed to find a wave shape that, combined with its reflection on the water's surface, formed a "fish shape." Additionally, the distance from the location to a streetlamp by the water formed the "fish's" eye, and "ORO" was hanging from the ceiling directly above the spot where these could be seen.

Sure enough, after Xia Xi found the location and looked up, she discovered several bags hanging with gold coins, and there was even one gold coin that had accidentally fallen onto the floor.

Xia Xi used the surrounding walls to kick off and jump onto the crossbeam above, getting a more direct view of the many gold coins from there.

Paimon was also very excited: "Wow! Traveler, you really found the gold coins. With so many, how much delicious food can we buy!"

Xia Xi: 'Paimon, all you think about is eating, and you can't even eat right now. This is the startup capital for our organization.'

"Geez, can't I even think about it?"

Xia Xi looked at the gold coins inside the bags and asked Paimon: 'Paimon, can I use the system to put the gold coins inside directly into the inventory?' Since items pulled from the system could be stored in the system inventory, perhaps items from the outside could be too.

"Hmm, I'm not sure, but we can try." Paimon wasn't certain if it would work, but it was worth a shot.

Before long, the gold coins inside the bags suddenly disappeared. With a thought, Xia Xi opened the system inventory. Sure enough, a slot inside displayed maple leaf gold coins, with a quantity of fifteen thousand.

"Traveler, you really can put things into the inventory!" Paimon said to Xia Xi with some excitement.

'Yeah,' Xia Xi responded.

Just like that, the maple leaf gold coins worth six hundred million yen were in her hands.

Xia Xi checked the world mission, and it also showed as completed. Xia Xi had now saved up enough Primogems for her next ten-pull.

However, she didn't plan to leave immediately after getting the items. Instead, she rearranged the scene, putting some other things back into the bags that originally held the gold coins, and cleared her traces before leaving.

Next, she would meet up with Lisa, return the cat she found to its owner, and complete the daily commission. Then, she just had to go home, wash her hands, and get ready for the summon.
