The planning session happened the following morning in the fourth floor, the default location for conversations that needed space and no audience.
Kael arrived with the gate's preliminary survey data already reviewed. Meaning he had read it before the entire session rather than during it.
I knew that this was how he dealt with everything. He laid out the parameters efficiently… A-rank classification, confirmed interior, two documented levels from the external signature, third level unconfirmed. Entry window. Estimated duration. Formation recommendation for a two-hunter team at mixed capability.
'Mixed capability'.
He said it without inflection. He said most of the things without inflection. But there was a certain amount of awareness that laid beneath the neutrality of this statement, it was the kind that was present when he had already accounted for something and was choosing not to make it a point of discussion yet.
