Chapter 3 - Three: The Guild II

Akira's POV

One more thing I learned, the fact that I could summon her at will. And if I didn't, she could literally vanish. Which was super good because I didn't know how people would react if I had a literal dragon trailing behind me.

I stepped out of the office alone and walked to the first office. This time around it seemed she was expecting me. The smirk on her face seemed to tell everything and nothing at the same time.

"I'm guessing you failed" She said in a demeaning manner. Point to self: She wasn't a huge fan of people with lower ranks.

"Actually I did. Her name is Gleam"

The look of horror on her face was to die for. The smirk wiped of as she hurriedly stood in front of me. She pulled up my sleeves as she gasped out.

On my wrist, was a faint trace of onyx colored vein. It was inside my body but still visible. Seemed I finally found out where her onyx eyes wandered of too.

I assumed my stance as I tried to act unbothered about the trace of onyx on my skin as I looked at the lady in front of me.

"How. . . How did you do it?"

"I talked to her"

I said it in a non challant manner. Hiding the fact that I was almost boxed away from the face of the earth.

She dragged me outside and coldly looked at me.

"Summon it"

It? My girl wasn't an it. I felt a protective instinct wash over me.

"Whatever the gender. Summon it"

"Acknowledge her first" I didn't know what gave me the courage to challenge this lady I didn't even know but seemed to hold enough power in the guild. But I made a promise to Gleam. Never again will she treated like a monster. And if this guild won't accept it, then going to another won't be so hard.

Besides, it will be hard to explain the sudden level up. I walked in here an F ranker. And suddenly, I was a D ranker. With an A rank sword and a B rank Celestial.

"Fine. Summon her" Her voice cooled down a bit as her expression relaxed. If I didn't know better, it seemed as if there was a faint smile that had grazed her face. But again, I didn't know better.

I tried concentrating as I imagined her physic. It didn't take long before a mental description of Gleam formulated in my mind. The tingles on my wrist grew more intense as a flash of onyx boomed out. And with that, Gleam stood in front of mine in all her might.

"Welcome to the Stoner guild" I tried catching my breathe as I glared at her amused face.

"You need a capable beast if you plan on even surviving any gate at all. And frankly speaking, even an A rank dagger will get you no where. Learn how to summon your beast . . ."

At the mention of the word beast, I released a deep growl as Gleam nudged me.

"Sorry. Your dragon. You need to learn how to summon her without consuming too much of your energy. Otherwise it will be extremely hard when you are in combat.

Come back tomorrow morning. That's when training sessions are starting. And also…"

She threw something like a watch to me and I easily caught it.

"That's the guild caller. Anytime we need you, we holler you. That will be all."

"May I know who you are at least?"

"I'm the owner of the guild silly" She smirked as she went on her way leaving me dumbfounded. I had just butter heads with the guild leader.

'That's something you don't see everyday' Gleam said as she nickered in her own dragon way as I shoved it aside and left the guild.

Next stop, my mothers ramen shop.

**** ****

"Well don't just stand there. Help out"

My mum semi yelled immediately I walked in. If there was a tiny difference between the two worlds, it was the fact that my mum in this world was in a better condition. She had a ramen shop that although wasn't big enough, was suitable and stable to handle most of the bills.

I wore my apron as I took the dishes out to serve them. It was a rush hour and the shop was located next to a construction site so business had been good lately.

"So how did it go?"

Yup. I knew that would be the first thing she would ask once the traffic slowed down. That was her thing. She worried a lot.

"It went well. I was accepted" I said in a laid back manner. And 3,2,1…

"Yesss!!!! I knew it!!! Do you all hear it? My baby boy is finally part of a guild"

She took me in her arms as she yelled at the top of voice. Shouts of congratulations waved around in the air as my mum shoved me back and forth. With tears in her eyes.

This was the look I aimed for. The unbridled smile that held no worries. That was my aim. And I was pretty sure that I would kill in this world for that smile to remain.

"Everything will get better from now on" I said suddenly to her in a serious voice.

She looked at me, a serene expression on her face and smiled.

"As long as you are safe. There's nothing else I desire most except your safety"

I wouldn't want to burst her bubble. But I knew that my life ahead wouldn't be a smooth one. I had to venturing into dungeons soon enough if I wanted to advance. It was easy for me to advance in rank because I bonded with Gleam. So no one knew how long it would take to upgrade again.

But she wouldn't have to worry about it. She would never know of my perilous journey ahead.

"Promise me"

"What Mama?"

"Promise me you will be safe. I know how dangerous it is in a guild and the fact that you will enter dungeons and slay demons. Promise me you'll always come back to me"

"I promise Mama. I will be safe"

She hugged me tightly as she went back to work. And I didn't have the courage to stand at the side lines watching her.
