[Felix POV]
I remembered where I'd heard the voice of the homeless person. He was there the day of my birth. I mean, he escorted my mother and grandmother to the hospital with his police car.
I talked with him for a while.
Apparently, he lost it all.
Let me explain in more detail. His name is Tyler Murphy and he was a police officer in Chicago, Illinois. He had a wife and two children, a daughter and a son. The son's name is Jacob Murphy and he was born in 1976. The daughter's name is Danielle Murphy and was born in 1979.
The day I was born, he was charged with a massive offense for using a company vehicle for personal use because he helped my mother get to the hospital quickly. The following year, in 1981, his wife had a miscarriage which changed his relationship with her.
His wife didn't blame him for anything, but he could tell she wasn't happy about their situation. There was a pile of debt that he had to pay.
By the end of 1983, the police force released him, which made things a lot harder because his wife had to find a job. He worked as a cashier in some supermarket and his wife worked as a waitress at some restaurant.
His marriage was falling apart and he did what he didn't want to do, he divorced his wife. He took all the debt with him.
He gave his wife the house and sold everything he owned, which meant he ended up owning nothing. By 1990, he left Chicago and came to Manhattan.
He lived in the sewers for a while and had encounters with a group of mutants by the name of Morlocks. At first, he was afraid, but they didn't do anything to him and just left him alone. They even left him some food from time to time.
He sleeps in the sewers or wherever he can find.
"What a life?"
Melina saw me talking with Tyler on the other street and came to me with some extra hot dogs in her hand.
She gave some to Tyler while he was telling a story. She arrived when the story was just starting.
We all listened and only spoke a little to understand the story well, like "You were a victim," "Someone wanted you gone," "What happened afterwards?" and so on.
I introduced Melina as Linda Walker, my assistant. I didn't want to just tell everyone her real name. She didn't correct me at all and said nothing.
I wanted to help him, but helping him would invite trouble because I gotta think about the causal chain.
"Почему бы вам не предложить ему работу?"
Melina said something to me, which I was surprised by and did consider. Tyler didn't understand what she said and looked at me to translate, but I said nothing.
If I do what she suggested, then things will get harder currently because I'm still working through things. Besides, SHIELD is watching my every move. Fury doesn't have a spy following my every move, but I'm pretty sure he is looking through the cameras he installed to look at my building.
You can install a camera on the next buildings and front building of Oseong Headquarters and I wouldn't find out about it.
I'm glad that Melina started wearing the ring because it'll be awkward if she's seen waiting for me and disappearing out of nowhere.
DRIVE can cloak itself and SPACE already cloaks me.
If I do what she suggested, then I have to remove or put classified information on his family, which is not great because I'm inviting trouble.
I will, but not now.
"Not now."
I left $200 on Tyler.
I decided to return home.
After arriving, I went straight to the headquarters and the company that was going to install the machine had already installed access gates. They sent a message that someone would come back tomorrow to activate the machine, and they'll go to the law firm tomorrow to install them.
They'll finish up at the factory.
They told me I should buy an access card machine maker so it'll be easier with no problem. Luckily I already bought it.
I received an email that 3 million phones have been produced and are functioning properly. About 20,000 phones failed to start or were not functioning properly.
Well I did consider there'd be rejects, but I designed the machine to work well, which means they were slacking off.
A machine is designed to work 80% and the rest goes to thermodynamics, that's why we need manual labour. A machine can't do 100% work, let alone 95% of work.
Anyway, by November I should be able to sell my products.
I should probably visit the factory to see how it's going. I need to hire a technician and mechanic for the factory. I might as well hire some IT personnel for the factory, law firm and headquarters.
Who knew starting a business would be this hard. I should've franchised some businesses and forgotten about this stuff.
Since I've already started, I've gotta see it through.
The week went well. The company finished installing access gates on all companies by the end of Wednesday, and I called every factory worker to receive their access card on Thursday as well as the law firm. I gave every employee their access card and at the law firm, there were only 2 employees which was a surprise. Lauren found an unemployed lawyer and hired him because he had all the qualifications.
Melina did something I expected, but it happened unexpectedly; she introduced herself to Maria on Tuesday.
We had an argument the same day. I didn't even know what they talked about, and she refused to tell me what they talked about.
The thing about SPACE is that I put a restriction on her to not monitor certain individuals unless I check myself or give permission, besides there were no cameras there.
I didn't push it and let it go, besides it didn't bother Maria at all. So no harm done. Oh, the OC ring doesn't work on SPACE or people who can see ghosts, spirits, astral projection or dimensions.
So, a person wearing OC ring might not appear on cameras but people who can see spirits can see the person wearing OC ring on cameras.
Not everything is perfect.
I'd be dumb to make the OC ring work on SPACE.
I had news that someone was selling promethium in the underground auction next week and I gotta get that.
I gotta buy materials because I'm out of it.
