"Well? Did you step out earlier without your phone?" Alen set his work gloves down on the desk, preparing to change out of his uniform before heading home.
Evelyn paused in her tracks, glancing at the overbearing man standing in front of her. "Alen, I have something to take care of tonight... so I won't be coming home." She used to rely on working overtime at the company as an excuse, but now? She couldn't come up with a single plausible reason for staying out.
Alen's footsteps stopped instantly as the thought of Michael Thorn flashed through his mind.
"You're with him." His tone was firm; he knew his sister wouldn't be staying out overnight with anyone else other than that man being here.
Evelyn's silence was as good as an admission. Alen took a deep breath, his voice darkening. "Is he forcing you?" If she was being held against her will, he would take a team of officers to fetch her right this second. Had that bastard not hurt his sister enough already? What more did he want?
