"You want money? I'll give it to you," she said, tilting her head back to avoid his stench. "Just name the price and let me go."
Tail Watson leaned in, his eyes roving over her red lips. The desperation in him was shifting into something darker.
"I changed my mind. I want the money... but I want you first. I've waited four years to finish what I started at your Debutante party."
He leaned down to kiss her. Evelyn wrenched her face to the side, her heart pounding against her ribs like a trapped bird.
"Are you Crazy Tail, stop!" she cried out. "If you touch me, you won't get a single cent. I swear it! I'll make sure you die in this alley!"
Tail Watson's grip on the dagger tightened, the tip drawing a tiny bead of blood through her dress.
"Then maybe we both die here, Evelyn. Because if I can't have my life back, I'm taking yours with me."
