Evelyn really had heard Michael's voice. She sat up in bed, blinking rapidly at the very real man standing right beside her mattress.
Ahhh! She had gone through all the trouble of swapping outfits and booking a room with her sister-in-law's ID card, and he still managed to hunt her down in the middle of the night!
"Mr. Thorn, kindly do not disturb my sleep!" She huffed, diving straight back under the covers. The suite's air conditioning was set to a cool temperature, so burrowing beneath the thick duvet felt extra cozy.
She wrapped the blanket tightly around herself like a burrito.
Michael sat down on the edge of the bed, leaning over her pulled-up covers as he murmured softly, "Wife, running away from home over a minor misunderstanding. Do you still consider yourself the lady of our household?"
Hearing those words, Evelyn sat upright, her eyes glaring at him. "A minor misunderstanding?! If I were out there funding another man on the side, would you call that a minor thing?!"
