Chapter 2 - Episode 2: When Paths Cross

The gala was alive with music, laughter, and the clinking of champagne glasses. But Kiara Sharma barely noticed any of it. Her mind was on the contracts she had to finalize tomorrow, the empire she had built, and the memories she had buried deep inside.

Then she felt a presence.

Rudra Malhotra.

He didn't approach like a man seeking attention. There was no arrogance, no charm for show. He simply walked toward her with calm confidence, his dark eyes locking onto hers. Kiara's heartbeat skipped—a feeling she hadn't felt in years.

"You're Kiara Sharma," he said softly, almost like he was confirming what he already knew.

"Yes," she replied cautiously, arching a brow. "And you are?"

"Rudra Malhotra," he said, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "And I think you've built something extraordinary… but I wonder if it's enough to make you happy."

Kiara blinked. Happiness? That was a word she hadn't allowed herself to feel in years. She had wealth, power, respect… but her heart had been empty for far too long.

"You speak as if you know me," she said, her voice sharp but curious.

"I see more than what you show the world," Rudra said simply. "And I see someone who deserves more than betrayal and business alone."

Kiara was silent. No one had ever looked at her like that—not her ex-husband, not her sister, no one. His words, calm and sincere, stirred something inside her she wasn't ready to name.

"You're dangerous," she said, a small smile breaking through her guarded exterior. "Men like you… they don't stay."

Rudra's smile widened, but there was no arrogance this time—just certainty. "I'm not like others," he said. "I came into your world for a reason."

Before Kiara could respond, the gala's lights dimmed, announcing the evening's charity auction. But she couldn't take her eyes off him. Something told her that Rudra Malhotra wasn't just another man who would pass through her life. He was about to change it completely.

And for the first time in years, Kiara felt hope—a dangerous, thrilling hope—that maybe, just maybe, life could be more than survival.
