Her question unfortunately never got answered. After everything that had happened earlier, Tessa tried to stand properly, but the moment her feet touched the ground her knees buckled beneath her. A weak gasp escaped her lips as she helplessly collapsed onto the floor.
Zephyr reacted immediately, catching her before she could fully hit the ground. He scooped her into his arms with ease, securing her carefully against his chest while she groaned in embarrassment. At this point she felt less like a person and more like a sack of grain being passed around between giant beastmen.
"You need to rest before we head for the mating ceremony," Zephyr said, his voice filled with excitement. "It has to happen tonight if we want to arrive in time."
