Cassius was grateful that everything was over. Not over in the literal sense, but at least, for the rest of the day, everything was over.
He was now in the Royal Palace, in the same room he had been during the Royal Event ceremony.
The room of his mother.
Just like before, there was still her faint presence lingering inside the room, as if the very walls refused to let go of her memory, holding it dear within them.
The bed was as comfortable as ever, but Cassius was not actually paying attention to that. His mind was swirling back in time, remembering things that didn't happen not that long ago, yet it felt like years had passed.
It seemed, the room, too, held many memories for him.
This was where he had recruited Sarah, not believing at all that that pitiful maid could become the woman she was today. A woman who was trying her best to find herself, despite being abandoned by the very thing her whole self was centered upon.
